Virgil stepped closer, reaching for his hood, but Pat backed up. To his dismay, however, he bumped into Roman, who snuck up behind him. Roman wrapped an arm around Pat, securing him in that spot. Everyone, except Virgil and Janus, were taller than Patton by a lot, and Roman was stronger than them all.
As Patton struggled against Roman's grasp, Virgil moved forward, pulling off Pat's cat hood. He gasped at the sight of frog-like skin on Patton's upper face. Roman spun Pat around to get a good look at his face, also gasping, almost screaming, as he saw the frog features. His head whipped towards Janus.
"What did you do to him!?" Roman shouted. Logan, who remained at the doorway, was next to Janus, oddly looking at Patton.
"I didn't do anything! I promise!" Janus cried, showing his bare hand like he did as he announced his name.
Virgil was stalking towards Janus.
"Guys! It's not his fault!"
Everyone looked at Patton.
"Then would you care to explain why you look part frog?" Roman growled. Patton gulped and looked down. The truth was, he didn't know the full story of what was happening to him.
"Well, after I turned into a frog in the latest video, I've been spotting various patches of frog skin on me. At first I could hide them, but when they moved to my face, I stayed in my room. Janus found me like this, and offered me his gloves. Then you guys came in here. I don't know why this is happening..." Patton cut himself off, turning his gaze from the floor to Logan and Janus.
"Deceit, can you recall when the snake scales started on you?" Logan questioned. Janus thought for a minute. "It started a while after I turned into a snake like Patton turned into a frog. It was when I was both Honesty and Deceit. Now, the snake side has replaced Honesty. After that, I was told to take Remus and Virgil to the dark side. You guys wanted us gone because the animal features replaced the good side of you, turning you to a-" Janus cut himself off, worriedly staring at a confused and scared Patton.
"A what!?" Roman spat. He seemed to be the only one who hadn't caught on. Virgil seemed frozen, Logan seemed to be going through it in his head, and Patton seemed to be emotionless at the moment.
"A dark side, Roman. If you have animal features, it means your a dark side," Logan answered. Roman loosened his grip on Patton, letting Pat fall to his knees.
"Patton." Logan said. Patton turned his gaze to Logan, who spoke in a monotone voice. "I would like to ask you to leave. The light side is no place for a dark side. Deceit, please take him to the other side of the mind," Patton blinked away tears, standing up slowly. "B-but L-l-Logan!" "He's right, Patton. Go," Roman shoved Pat towards the doorway. Patton stumbled and let his tears spill. Janus also had tears in his eyes, but he didn't cry. How could they do that to Patton? Virgil stared blankly, almost angered. But he made no effort to stop anybody. Janus quickly grabbed Patton, hugging him and sinking out to the dark side of the mind.
Time skip~ Light side of the mind
"Hey, Virgil?" Roman whispered quietly. He opened Virgil's door. Virgil was on the floor, his eyeshadow running down his face from crying. The card Patton gave to him sitting in his lap, covered with wet splotches from the tears he didn't bother hiding.
"Oh, Virge," Roman sighed. He opened his arms, offering a hug. Virgil practically jumped into his arms, sobbing uncontrollably.
Just then, Logan walked in. "Ugh. Emotions." "'Cmon Logan! It's okay to show emotion!" Roman whined. Logan readjusted his glasses and sighed. "The truth is, I'm worried we did the wrong thing, kicking Patton out," Roman and Virgil looked at each other before hugging him as well. Logan was just about ready to cry. "Hey, Virge? Do you have any animal features?" Roman asked. Virgil pride himself away from the hug. "Promise not to freak out?" "Promise" they both said together.
Virgil took a deep breath, opening the extra eyes usually hidden by his eyeshadow. He was part spider, so he had two extra eyes under each eye. Six in total, if you count his normal eyes. Roman bit back a gasp, and Logan just looked curious. If Patton was here, he would have a much...intense reaction. The thought of this brought everyone's mood down.
The dark side of the mind~
Once Patton entered the dark side of the mind with Janus, Remus immediately bounded over to them. "Why are you back, Janus? And Pat-oh!" He caught sight of the traits face and let out a sound between a mix of a squeal of joy and a sigh of sadness. "When did this happen?" "After Pat turned into a frog. Once the others found out what it meant, they kicked me and Patton out" Janus answered.
Everyone was now crying freely, and Remus hugged Patton tightly. "Your are never going back to them" he declared. Then Janus spoke up, as well. "If they won't love and accept you for you, we will" Patton smiled shyly, hugging the two tightly. "Thank you guys" And they all held each other, quietly sobbing.
