Third POV:

Thomas' apartment~

"Virgil, Roman, Patton, Logan!" Thomas called out to his living room. Three of the four sides rose up. "Wait, where's Patton?" Thomas questioned. The other sides exchanged nervous looks. Should they tell him?

"He's...in his room. Working on something," Virgil answered with a lie. Just then Janus appeared like all dark sides do, standing in Patton's empty spot. "Janus! I forgot to call you! Sorry, I'm not used to it," Thomas apologized. "Oh, it's okay. I wasn't going to come anyway. Just sensed a lie..." he said truthfully. "Wait, who lied? Guys, where's Patton!?" Janus laughed. "You seriously haven't told Thomas?" Janus continued laughing, only it seemed angrier. Thomas looked confused, and the other three wore a guilty look.

"We- kicked Patton out of the light side," Roman sighed. Thomas was shocked. "Why would you do that!?" Thomas shouted angrily. Virgil flinched. Logan readjusted his glasses and spoke up. "He had developed an animal side like all dark sides, and we reacted without thinking. Now, he's become a dark side." Thomas was shocked,to say the least. Just after accepting another dark side, they kick out the moral trait?

Thomas' face fell, and he turned to Janus. "So...is he with you and Remus now?" Janus nodded in response, too upset to lie. "Can you bring him here?" Janus was hesitant but nodded and summoned Patton, who appeared like a dark side instead of rising up.

For a moment, the light sides and Thomas didn't recognize him. He still had his glasses, but his frog features made it hard to recognize the once happy trait. His hands were mostly covered by gloves, but being fingerless, you could see his sticky frog-like fingers. The dark teal gloves matched his shirt, showing a broken heart emblem. His sweater around his shoulders was no longer the cat one Logan gave him, but a plain black one. His ears seemed to be more pointy, and his hair was messy, like he just woke up. The thing that shocked the others most of all, were the permanent black tear stains running down his face.

"P-Patton?" Thomas asked nervously, almost unsure if it really was the bubbly dad trait he once knew. Patton turned his head in the direction of Thomas, and clung to Janus as if he wasn't familiar with his name or who was calling it. "Ye-yeah..?" He said in an almost whisper like tone. The three light sides in the room wilted at their friends' nervous tone.

"What happened?" Thomas asked, wanting a more clear definition on how Pat got to look like this. He suspected the frog features are from when he turned into the frog hulk...thing. "Is he still my moral trait?" He asked Janus. The whole thing was puzzling. How did this happen so suddenly? (Fanfiction. It's Fanfiction) "Me and Remus are still working to figure it out, but we're pretty sure he still is your heart, just...he lost his happier feelings like how I lost honesty when I was a snake. The honesty was the 'good' part of me, and that was overthrown by the animal trait. It's just a guess, but it's what will most likely happen." Janus responded.

The three lighter sides have been quiet this whole conversation, only listening and feeling more guilty every second.

Roman was still looking down,

Logan was trying not to show his emotions, mainly just trying not to cry,

and Virgil was staring at Patton, thinking he was the cause of it all and on the verge of a breakdown.

Roman and Logan, standing on either side of him, heard his mismatched and heavy breathing, quickly rushing over to comfort him. Patton stepped forwards, also wanting to comfort his anxious friend, feeling guilt wash over him. However, he was stopped by a yellow gloved hand holding his wrist.

"Cookie, don't touch him. We have a feeling you can spread sad emotions by touch and by being around others. You would just make it worse." These words caused Patton to start sobbing tears the color of ink. He had been trying to hold it in from the second he appeared around the lighter sides, and now he clung to Janus, sobbing black stains into his already dark turtleneck.

Janus felt the sad emotions radiating off of Patton, just as his light side radiated happier emotions. Janus kissed the top of Patton's head, trying to soothe him, and looked over to Thomas, who seemed to be on the verge of crying, as well. "Take care of the lighter sides. I'm taking Pat to the dark part of the mind." Thomas nodded and sniffed, turning his attention back to the others as Janus and Patton dropped out.
