~Maeve's POV~

"Jase!" I complained, looking up at him as he snatched my plate of toast and began to eat it all himself. He ignored me, tossing my paper plate into the trash as he finished shoving the entire slice of toast into his mouth.

"Hurry up, we're gonna be late." He said through his mouthful of toast, making me cringe in disgust as I stood up from the dining table. "I can't believe you just took my food like that." I sighed in disappointment, pouting as I grabbed my backpack and slung it over my shoulder. Usually I maybe would have just made myself some more, but I didn't have the time to do that today because it was already pretty late. That meant I was going to be forced to either skip breakfast altogether or just get something to eat for breakfast from the school cafeteria when we got there.

We both headed out to my car and got in so I could drive us to school, noticing the way Jase sulked beside me in the front seat. "Why won't you ever let me drive us? I'm the one who's older and yet I have to be driven around by my little sister like a child." He complained, making me glance over at him with a slight frown.

"Because this is my car, Jase, and you're not even good at driving. You just barely passed your test." I reminded him, shaking my head as I focused on the road ahead of us. "I don't need you crashing my car. You wanna drive, get your own car." I said, shutting down his idea of driving my car immediately. He huffed and crossed his arms over his chest, looking out the window as we drove. "Bitch." He grumbled, probably thinking I wouldn't hear him but I did.

I just sighed and kept driving, deciding not to comment on his insult. If I did, he'd probably just get even more irritated and keep insulting me, so I ignored it altogether.

When we got to school and I parked my car in a spot in the parking lot we both headed inside, where he tried his best to walk as far from me as possible despite the fact that we were both heading to the cafeteria. Not only we were going to the same place, but we were probably going to end up sitting at the same table like always, since my table had also become the table that the football sat at, thanks to Nicolai.

Priscilla waved at me excitedly from where she sat at our table when I entered the cafeteria, urging me to come and sit with her. I smiled and waved back, just as happy to see her as it seemed she was to see me. "Hi." I greeted her chirpily as I reached the table, setting my backpack down in the seat beside her, where I always sat at. She smiled up at me and said, "You're later than usual."

A sheepish smile formed on my lips. "Well, Jase was being slow and taking forever to get ready. You know how he is." I explained, glancing over at my brother, who cared more about how he looked than I probably did.

She snickered and rolled her grey eyes, an amused look on her face. "Of course he did." She sighed, shaking her head. My stomach suddenly grumbled very loud, making her raise her brows up at me. "What?" I asked in a mumble. "Jase took my breakfast before I could even eat it." I huffed, my face burning in embarrassment.

"Well, go and get some breakfast then, idiot." She insisted, giving me a gentle shove on the arm. "I'll still be here when you get back. Go!" She exclaimed when I turned, trying to protest a little. It was like she knew what I was about to say. I gave in and walked over to the back of the line that'd formed for everyone waiting to get breakfast, not noticing who I was stood behind until I saw that familiar head of platinum blonde hair.

A smile formed on my lips and I tapped him softly on the shoulder, watching as his head swiveled around. He was frowning at first, looking a little put off by my touch until he saw that it was me and not a random stranger. "Oh. It's just you, blondie." He muttered, turning around to face me.

"Just me?" I pouted, pretending to be offended by his word choice. His lips twitched in amusement. "Oh, yes, sorry. What I meant was," He hummed, clearing his throat. "Maeve!" He exclaimed dramatically, forcing an effortless grin onto his lips as he gushed over-enthusiastically at me. I couldn't help but to laugh, a stupid smile on my lips as I peered up at him. "Shut up!" I giggled, playfully smacking his arm for mocking me.
