A/N: this fanfiction will contain crossovers. If you're uncomfortable with that, I deeply apologise. This chapter will officially establish the fact that Haikyuu and Masamune-kun's Revenge are connected. Not canon but I want to make the plot fun! Suggestions for future crossovers would also be helpful! I will be using mangas and light novels as references, I rarely use the anime.
"Nuppeppō! It's a Nuppeppō!"
Delighted, Akagi exclaimed in pure excitement as he happily observed the boy with no regards of how hurtful his words were. Nuppeppō was a yokai that became famous in the Edo Period, some people explained his physical appearance to be horrid, disgusting, and it was depicted with indistinguishable wrinkles on its face and body as a one head blob of meat. Just by hearing the explanation from Tomo of what a "Nuppeppō" was made you disgusted, scruching up your nose at the image Tomo provided for a visual understanding of what the yōkai looked like. You didn't think being mistaken as a Nuppeppō would ever become good news for anyone.
You didn't study yōkai's regularly like Akagi did since you weren't that interested in them but you simply saw your brother as a little bit too mean for calling the young boy a Nuppeppō. Sure, the boy wasn't all too attractive but it wasn't like he was a sight you never wanted to see again! He was just a bit chubby. That was all, really. You actually thought he was cute with his fluffy and slightly pinkish cheeks.
But it was still a mystery to you why he was here in the first place. First of all, this was private property owned by your grandfather. Secondly, if he was planning to be a little mischievous and steal, he wouldn't and shouldn't have gone to the library since it didn't have anything too valuable. Last of all, didn't you see him when you were on that tree?
"So... Why are you here... exactly?"
Surprisingly, the little boy scowled at you and Akagi as he turned on his heel and walked away. You stared at his back with a blank look, irritated by how disrespectful he was though your brother seemed thrilled and chased after him at a much slower pace than his usual since the distance between you and the boy wasn't really that far.
"Nuppeppō, don't leave meee!"
Akagi whined as he followed after the boy, you trailing behind them since you really didn't have anything to do at that moment. You still couldn't help but think how incredibly unaware Akagi was to the insults he was making to the boy by calling him Nuppeppō. He was either oblivious to the fact of who Nuppeppō was which was ultimately very unlikely given he religiously studied about yōkai's or he was simply too cold-hearted to care about the nickname he'd given the boy.
You didn't know where the boy was headed and you didn't particularly care either way. You regarded it as a mini tour of the library and he didn't seem all that dangerous and if needed, you'd probably have the capabilities of restraining him without troubles, with a little help from Tomo.
"I should be the one asking you that."
The boy spoke out of nowhere after the three of you had walked for a minute or two in complete silence. You don't completely understand what he was talking about so you raised your brow at him when he glanced at you for a reaction.
"You asked me why I was here, remember?"
He asked and you shrugged your shoulders, while Akagi didn't really react, not caring much about his questions as he continued to follow the boy to wherever his destination was. Seconds passed without anyone talking before the boy stopped walking , making you and your brother stop as well, curious what had made him cease. He quickly turned around to face the both of you and he glared, visibly upset by your lack of reactions for a reason you didn't really find important.
