It was a wonder why you hadn't noticed the existence of the genius setter beforehand given he was emitting an aura that screamed for anyone near him to quickly get away if they didn't want to be glared at by a kid but you guessed it was because he had isolated himself in the corner of the gymnasium, only interacting with his sister who tried to make him interact with the others more since he looked too out-of-place for his own good.

You didn't have much time left to spend at the training camp you had previously attended given your brother and yourself were still going to Shiratorizawa Academy per his request and you slightly hoped that Ushijima, god bless that amazing man, was still there for whatever he needed to deal with — you were guessing he had been scouted by the prestigious educational institute just as Oikawa had been though the schools that took interest in them were different.

You did want to slightly intefer given Shiratorizawa Academy could become an even more of a powerhouse school if Oikawa went there but you decided against it, knowing how much things you were putting at risk and important character development arcs you were sacrificing just for something you wished could happen but didn't. The brunette going to the private academy would result in him probably spending more time with Ushijima than Iwaizumi, he wouldn't taste as much failure as he did which you began to wonder was truly bad or not, and his victory on finally being recognised by the whole world wouldn't taste as sweet.

Knowing that you really didn't have much time to make some lengthy and friendly conversation with both Tsukishima and Kageyama, you decided to just introduce yourself to them through their siblings which would be much better than nothing, you reckoned. It was swift process, really, nothing stood out if you ignored your heart screaming given your "husbands" were here, right in front of you. You exchanged brief and small bows, not finding a reason to be extremely polite and you shared your names, threw in some talks about hobbies here and there with your brother right by your side.

"Nakamura Y/n, it's nice to meet you!"

You had approached Kageyama first, the ebony-haired prodigy looked barely interested in your existence which, though not much, did make your confidence falter a little but you quickly picked yourself up with a smile, bunching up your cheeks as you tried to hold some light conversation about volleyball, knowing he wouldn't be even the slightest intrigued if it wasn't about the sport. Rubber balls slamming against the gymnasium floor echoed throughout the vicinity, skin against surface and air being cut through with swift spikes, shoes sliding and spiking as they ran and gave their all for a sport and despite holding admiration for dedication, you tuned it out with a blink.

"Which position are you planning to take?"

You asked, as if you didn't know already and you tried to put some sort of tone in your voice that would make you appear to be genuinely curious, your fakeness hurt your own heart if you had to be honest with yourself but you knew it had to be done one way or another, or you would just seem a little too knowledgeable on things you had no business having information about beforehand. Dark eyes turn towards you, interest glimmering in them like a shard of curiosity had been sparked inside his chest and spread across his veins like a wildfire that made his nerves explode to create a reaction, lips pursing, hands wringing, brows shooting up, and feet turned towards your direction — a grin made its way to your face at imminent victory.

"Setter.."

A stutter nonexistent, hesitation barely found and with a curt nod, you reprocessed his words as if unknown. Kageyama wasn't a shy individual, straightforward outlook in life made assurances of such, merely an introvert who found crowds tiresome and you understood lots the vivid reasons as of why. Despite his own reasoning most probably differing from yours in an amount you had no comprehension in, you wouldn't stand there and pretend as if you could instantly recognise and nit-pick all of his problems and act like you could solve them with just one smile. Other than your question, he held no curiosity over your existence and you found that to be find, no need to hurry the pace of your relationship despite the lack of a reassurance that the two of you would even be friends.
