A/n: author will be entering hiatus after this chapter is posted because I need to pay more attention to my academics. Will be returning.
Tsukishima Kei's name and the kanji it utilized was something not really expressed a lot in the anime and the manga itself and since you weren't Japanese in your past life nor could you read a lot of kanji (though you certainly tried to learn Japanese because you wanted to understand your husbandos without subs) so it wasn't really a big issue for those non-Japanese fans such as yourself and your friends but it had been stated in Tsukishima's current concern category that he was worried that because he had recently entered highschool, he needed to teach everyone how to pronounce his name once more.
Of course, it really wasn't a surprise that he also did it in his elementary school days but it was quite amusing to see the cool-headed middle blocker, Tsukishima Kei himself, be so worked up over the pronunciation of his kanji though you understood why, as Inunaki (the person you considered a rival during the Shonen tournaments) had repeatedly addressed this issue, even complaining about it on the daily during tournament week if he could find an opportunity to sneak inside your team's hotel room.
You were quite bewildered by the sight in front of you though since it wasn't Kei who who was actually angry and/or livid about the mispronunciation, which made more sense if you thought about it more since it wasn't really understandable why the boy would be so livid and shout over such a simple thing — it was actually Akiteru who had corrected the girl doing roll calls whilst your brother (who you suspected to have arrived only recently) was holding back the older blonde, a tired expression plastered on his face as if his mere presence in that situation was an unfortunate event all on its own.
"IT'S PRONOUNCED KEI."
A sigh could be heard from the younger Tsukishima albeit it wasn't really loud nor quiet since he didn't bother masking his "disappointment" for his older brother if such was the case, you assumed it to be not as you wholeheartedly believed that the glasses-wearing boy loved his brother with all his heart and you also thought and carried around the belief that the whole fandom did as well. Then, Kei grinned and you wondered if you were seeing things, constantly blinking your eyes since you believed your brain or eyes to be damaged one way or another because there was no way Kei would allow his brother to see his smile so openly after that whole I'm-not-actually-the-ace fiasco with Akiteru.
But then you remembered that it was still 2006 meaning that Akiteru was still somewhere between 14 or 15 years of age which basically meant that the whole drama still hadn't even begun, there was still no lie and maybe if you intervened a little, maybe you could help Akiteru with the desperately fading connection he had with his younger brother than you were certain he wanted to mend back together if he just knew how.
But, wouldn't that mean that he wouldn't be the loveable salty kid anymore? Wouldn't that also mean that Yamaguchi and Kei wokldnr be close friends— or friends at all for that matter as the reason why the timid boy had decided to stick close to Kei was because he saw the blonde as someone strong that could fight the bullies, and perhaps Kei would be part of the middle school volleyball team for his own academic institution if that whole thing with Akiteru didn't happen since his older brother was the main reason he decided to not be attached to one thing (especially sports like volleyball) so he wouldn't feel the despair his brother did.
You were analyzing the whole situation before sighing out, deciding to not do anything too plot-damaging so the results and the future outcome of the series wouldn't differ from what you knew since you didn't want to live the life of those other isekai x-reader's you found online where the character played around with the plot too much to an extent that the outcome had become almost unrecognisable. You didn't want to say that you didn't want to leave everything because you did like Oikawa's injury which was still an ongoing process, Yamaguchi and Tendo's bullies who you were waiting to show up any minute now so you reach them a lesson or two, and Atsumu's haters which you were slowly dealing with. (Please don't forget that Atsumu Miya has a lot of haters when he was in grade school/middle school)
