The jerk was nowhere in sight, so I abandoned my search for Cardan and sauntered off to Bio. Fortunately the class was not started yet, unfortunately all the seat were taken apart from the one behind Nicasia. I groaned and sat heavily on my seat, tired of school already.
Nicasia whipped her head backward and scrunched her nose at me. I scowled back. She turned back, not before sneering at my torn out notes. Its not like its my fault if Oak tears my notes?
I zoned out for the rest of the class while the teacher went on and on about marine zoology and how it's not popular enough. Nobody really cared, other than Nicasia, who turned a little teary eyed at the mention of baby dolphins and sharks. I rolled my eyes and snorted audibly. She turned around to give me the stink eye and snarled,"Do you have something to say, crude," 'crude Jude', ya very funny, did I mention their sense of humor is worse than my non- existent grandmothers.
I rolled my eyes and looked out the window at the soccer field. The green grass gleamed in the smoldering sunlight, and the bleachers shined a dazzling white showing off their freshly painted selves. I sighed. I wanted to be out running or doing any physical activity which would help me to release all my pent up anger. Madoc cancelled the after- school training today, so I didn't even have that to look forward to. And me skipping lunch didn't help either.
The bell rang and I quickly scrambled for my things and shot out of the class as fast as I could, not wanting to face Nicasia's sneering face again.
Outside I navigated swiftly through the mass of teenagers hording the corridors, trying to make it to the parking as fast as I could-
wait,
Was that Taryn in the auditorium?
And who is the guy standing next to her?
I stopped outside the open doors of the dimly lit auditorium to peer at my twin sister in a intense conversation with mystery guy. Mystery guy was standing in the shadows and the light seeping in from the illuminated corridors put my sister's anxious features on full display. I could hear rushed whispers and a silent argument unfolding. I contemplated going and punching the dude in his face for making my sister that disturbed but something about her look stopped me.
"Taryn, umm is that you?"
She jumped, clearly startled and looked at me with with wide, alarmed eyes. The mystery guy seemed to have dissolved in the darkness and was nowhere in sight when I marched toward the still figure of my sister.
"Who was that?" I asked, scanning the empty seats and the looming stage for any sign of mystery guy.
Taryn didn't speak but nervously looked at her ballet flats.
"What were you guys doing? I continued suspiciously.
"Nothing," she quickly said
"It didn't seem like nothing"
"It was actually just.......... umm.. did you see the announcement for the upcoming musical 'Romeo and Juliet' I was just planning on auditioning for Juliet and that guy offered to help me.. you know in improving my theatrical skills and stuff... "
I raised my eyebrows at her.
"well , then why did he run away when I came?"
"It just that........ he is extremely shy and you are a little bit sorta intimidating so..."
I snorted. What a wimp.
"Okay, lets go. I am starving, maybe we could stop at Mcdonalds on the way home," I said swinging my arm around her shoulders and guiding us out of the musky auditorium.
Taryn gave a sigh of relief and I glanced at her. Not missing the evident relief on her face. I let it go, I was too hungry to indulge in my sister's drama and in this case literal drama. I wondered what attracted her to audition for Juliet, the most stupid of Shakespeare's creation, in my opinion.
Outside most of the cars were gone only Cardan's convertible sat in the middle of the lot with his bunch of cronies circling the hood of his car while he leaned on his car smiling vaguely at Nicasia. Locke was not present, I noted. At the mention of Locke my brain sauntered to our encounter in the corridor and his peculiar behaviour, but was quickly disturbed by Valerian.
"Going home losers, we hope you crash and die in a ditch somewhere so the rest of us can be excused from ever looking at you miserable faces," he drawled.
Taryn's grip on my arm tightened and I let out a heavy sigh.
"You wish, d**khead," I grumbled and sat in the passenger seat while Taryn started the car.
*************
"Where is she?" I asked impatiently scanning the mall for Vivienne's to- be girlfriend.
"She is coming, Just wait a sec" Vivienne grumbled exasperated.
Not soon after a pink head bobbed in sight and a grinning face greeted the three of us. Vivienne had immediately taken us to the mall to meet her girlfriend just after we came from school. Heather was pretty and petite with gorgeous brown skin. She pecked Vivienne on the lips and hugged Taryn and me. We gladly returned the gesture.
Vivienne was nervous, she had asked out Heather on a couple of dates however she still hadn't asked her to be her girlfriend yet. She was planning on doing it today, that is why she was carrying a vintage scroll in which she had neatly calligraphed a small poem for Heather. Quite cheesy if you ask me. Vivienne had asked for our opinion on the little verse she wrote and we gladly gave her a thumbs up. It was very cute, Taryn's words not mine. It was bordering on cringeworthy but i didn't dare say that aloud.
here, I am writing with this lame feather,
to this gorgeous person I know: Heather
so tell me, will you put my torment to an end
and be my girlfriend?
Yes, this what she spent two hours writing on her scroll, apparently the vintage parchment of the scroll was also artistic. She put the emphasis on the art because Heather is an artist, but just a different and better one.
All four of us entered a restaurant with jazz blasting on the speakers and dim lighting enveloping the whole place. Just before we all settled down, I excused Taryn and I, saying we need to buy tampons (yes that is what my spontaneous brain came up with). I winked at Vivi and Taryn gave her a suggestive look and then we both exited the restaurant to give the lovebirds a little privacy, so Vivi could do what she came to do. Heather looked a bit puzzled at our sudden departure but she quickly shrugged it off.
We discreetly spied on them from behind the translucent glass lining the walls of the restaurant, waiting for Vivienne to make a move.
God that girl. Hurry up for.... the sake of instant noodles!
" So, Heather I wanted to say...... ummm....... that........will you be..........like.......... just read this," Vivi struggled nudging Heather to read the scroll in her hand, which Heather took with a confused smile.
Heather eyes glistened with tears as she read the contents of the scroll and then she finally looked up at vivienne.
"So, will you be.... i mean my girlfriend?" Vivienne mustered, earning a beaming smile and a 'duhh' from Heather and then Heather engulfed Vivi in a bear hug.
Ok, this was adorable. They both were enough to make any single person jealous.
Who else loves instant noodles or is it just me? I edited this a bit today because I only hastily finished the ending when I wrote it, I will try to be accurate with grammar, it is just that get lazy.
I re-watched Suicide squad last week, I swear I have crush on Joker now. Jared Leto is really hot( but only clean shaven with short hair) ok, I am being weird.
