~Chapter 5~

~Betty POV~
I had been staying with Toni for a couple days now we had gone to the studio over the weekend and had stayed there pretty much all day.

But now it was Monday the worst day of the week, Monday meant I had 5 torturous days left of being shoved into lockers and being called hideous names.

Once we were ready to go I got on the back of Toni's bike and we drove to school.

Toni stayed in a small trailer by herself, much smaller than my house but I loved it, it was cosy and had happy memories.

Toni's parents had never been rich but they were always happy, they would go to pops and the drive in on Saturdays. They might not have been perfect but they were a family who loved each other and that meant everything.

I had met Toni's parents when we were younger but they died when she was 14 in a car crash. She never went into foster care because well nobody cared about people on the southside in riverdale. At the beginning she got money from her grandparents to support her but when she came out as lesbian they stopped talking to her. She got a job at the Wyrm and was now managing well with money. It was hard but that was just life in Riverdale.

When we got to school we got a lot of strange looks from everyone I mean we usually did but even more so now as they saw 'the perfect girl next door' get off of a southside serpent's motorcycle.

Seeing as I was with Toni and my parents couldn't control me I had changed up my look I was wearing ripped black jeans along with a big fluffy, knitted white sweater. I had always loved this look but could never wear it because of my parents 'rules' but they weren't here and they couldn't tell me what to do anymore. I finally felt free. Free of them. Free of life. It was the beginning of a new chapter in my life and I didn't know where it would take me but it was going to be amazing.

We walked into school together laughing at everyone staring until we saw the one and only Jughead Jones staring at us.

"Topaz!" He yelled from across the hall causing everyone to shut up.

"What?" She snapped back causing me to snigger.

"Please tell me you didn't ditch us for her" he said glaring at me with a look of disgust.

"So what if I did she my best friend" Toni said getting infuriated by his glaring.

"Whatever" he said rolling his eyes not wanting to start a fight with her.
"Serpent meeting on Wednesday 8PM don't be late" he spat at her and walked away murmuring "Bitch" as he walked past me.

People have this idea in their heads that words don't hurt but they do, they hurt just as much as the scars all over my body.

When people look at my body, at my skin they just see pale normal skin but I see the words whore, bitch, slut everywhere every insult I've ever been called leaving a marking on my body, each one more painful than the last.

The day went by slow each push and shove into a locker making by bruises darker but I managed.

When we got back to Toni's trailer I flopped on the couch exhausted while she just laughed at me we were planning on going to the studio later but right now I needed the couch and some junk food.

Toni went to the bathroom while I was looking in the fridge for some food when the door opened.

I turned around to three guys staring at me utterly confused Jughead,Fangs, and Sweet Pea.

"Umm she's in the toilet" I said awkwardly while they just stared into my soul.

"What the hell are you doing here?" Sweet Pea shot at me.

"I'm Toni's friend too you know asshat" I snapped back.

The truth is I had always wanted to snap back  at people when they insulted me but I couldn't ruin my reputation well not at school anyway. I always had a great comeback in the back of my head but I could never say anything but this was different I didn't have to be perfect anymore and it was feeling great.

They all looked shocked at what I had said they had never taken me for the kind of person to snap back after all I was 'the perfect girl next door'.

They continued to stand at the door awkwardly closing it behind them while I got out leftover pizza from last night. I took out a slice and a napkin and started eating it in front of them not caring what they thought.

"You should really lay off the carbs" Fangs said while I rose my eyebrows at him.
"Your daddy wouldn't want a fat daughter now would he" he continued while I just smirked at him.

"Just like your daddy didn't want a gay kid" I shot back at him taking another bite of my pizza as I saw jughead holding back a laugh in the corner of my eye but I couldn't give him the satisfaction of being the only one who wasn't insulted.

I grabbed my phone, my headphones and my gym bag before I went outside the bathroom door.

"Hey Toni I'm going to the studio I'll see you later your jerk friends are waiting for you by the way" I said knocking on the door.

"Ok see you later bye" she replied as I walked back out to the three guys standing near the door.

"Studio?" Jughead asked while I gave him an innocent smile.

With one swift movement of my leg I kneed him in the balls followed by him groaning.

"That was for calling me a bitch bye" I said and with that I was out the door and on my way to the studio.
