HARRYLATER that night, Blair and I left the studio at around 10 pm. After hearing the masterpiece that was goodnight n go, I wasn't sure anymore if I wanted to share my music with her. Between my own insecurities and the dilemma I had of which sound to choose, this album was stressing me out more than it was helping me.
However, my favorite song that I had created so far was called Sign of the Times. It was an emotional ballad about a woman that goes into labor, and is then told that she and her baby are going to pass away soon.
It's such a sad song, but at the same time, i adore it so much. It's on the longer side as well, and everyone around me said that I could really showcase my vocals with it.
I was worried that people expected me to come out with a pop song, like I had released in one direction. pop wasn't my thing anymore, and I would be unauthentic if I released something that I didn't love whole heartedly.
We got back to my house a little while later, not anywhere near tired in the slightest. I placed my bag on the kitchen island, leaving it so that I could get it when I left again the next day. Blair placed her stuff in my bedroom, and returned in more comfy clothes.
"Hey Harry?" she asked, walking over to the sofa and plopping her body down. "Yeah?" I asked. I took of my shirt and changed into a more comfortable one while she continued to speak. "I wanna hear more of your music! We spent all day working on goodnight n go and I'm so fucking obsessed with it, but I want to hear what else you have!" She smiled, waving me over to sit next to her.
I nodded slightly and grabbed my laptop out of my bag, which contained the audio files that held my unreleased music. I joined Blair on the couch and opened the laptop, searching through my hundreds of files.
Next to me, Blair pulled out her phone and propped it up against the flower vase on the coffee table, making her camera point straight at us.
"I want to do a proper reaction." She announced in a fancy manner, sitting straight up so that the camera would focus on her better. Channeling her inner YouTuber, she took a deep breath in and pressed the record button.
"Hi everyone! Welcome back to my YouTube channel!" Blair exclaimed in her best youtuber voice, waving her hands all around her. "Today, i'm reacting to some of Harry Styles unreleased music! let's see how bad it is!" She continued to joke. I let out a loud burst of laughter and playfully shoved her to the side.
"Fuck you." I muttered through the sound of our blended laughter. "You already have." She replied with a smile and gritted teeth as she propped herself back up on the couch. My cheeks flushed red and tuned out everything else she said for the next few minutes.
"Come on, Harold. Show us what you got." Blair giggled. "Okay. I have the first one ready." I announced proudly. I finally caught my breath and turned so that Blair couldn't see the title of the song on my laptop.
"Play it, DJ!" She cheered, clapping her hands together. To be completely honest, I was terrified for Blair to hear my music. What if she hated the sound? What if it was so bad that she had to lie to spare my feelings?
I took a deep breath and pressed play on the laptop, letting the intro to the song play. "It's called Oh Anna." I explained quietly over the music. Oh Anna was one of my favorites that I had so far. The happy and upbeat tune began to flow out of the computer speakers loudly.
