BLAIR

THE next day, I was scheduled to appear on the Ellen show by myself and talk about Supernova which released in a week, and perform one of my singles; No Tears Left to Cry.

It was my first time being on a high production television show in person, and all of it felt so rushed.

Behind the scenes was so fucking busy as well. Everyone was running in different directions swiping setting powder onto your face or adjusting the microphone taped onto your body.

It was truly a hell of a lot to take in.

I was now seated in front of the vanity in my dressing room, staring at my reflection wearing an extraordinarily long ponytail, bold winged eyeliner, and knee high thigh boots.

I liked my new look, but it took some getting used to for sure. I was beginning to feel more confident within myself, and finally come to terms with who i felt that I was.

I heard a knock on my dressing room door as I adjusted the base of my long ponytail, making sure all of the strands of hair were securely in place. "Who is it?" I asked, turning my head slightly to face the door. "It's Katie." replied the familiar voice. alisha was one of the producers on the ellen show, and one of the nicest people I had ever met.

"Come in!" I cooed excitedly, glad to see a friendly face amidst all of my nerves. She quickly opened the door and stepped into my dressing room, adjusting the clipboard that she held tightly in her hands.

"You're on in 5 minutes! Are you excited?" Katie cheered, expecting me to respond with the same energy that she held. "I'm excited, but I'm also really nervous. I'm pretty new to things like this still." I confessed, pulling the hair from my ponytail onto my shoulder.

The ponytail acted like a blanket of security for me, almost. It was something i could hide behind when I was nervous, scared, anxious, whatever the emotion may be. It sounded dumb to admit, but that was mainly the reason I accepted the new look i had taken on.

"I totally understand! You have no reason to be worried, though." Katie reassured me. I nodded slightly and stared at the ground, unsure of what else there was to say.

"And by the way, Blair?" Katie began to ask me. She noticed I was loosing interest in the conversation at hand. I turned my head back up to face Katie and raised my eyebrows, a signal for her to continue her statement.

"I'm not supposed to tell you exactly what it is, but I want you to be prepared when it happens. Ellen has a surprise planned during the interview, so just be ready for that. Okay?" She explained with a wide smile.

A surprise? What the hell did that mean? I prayed it was a good surprise, as I knew that Ellen was known to pull pranks on past guests, both good and bad.

"Anyways, we have to go now! You're on soon!" alisha cheered and practically pulled me out of the chair, rushing me to the backstage area. She gave me no time to question any sort of 'surprise' with the speed she ripped me out from my chair at.

I still wasn't able to collect my thoughts. It felt like everything around me was going in 2x speed, and I couldn't fucking catch up.

"Alright one minute! Andy will give you a wave to come on stage when it's time. Good luck, Blair!" She announced and scurried away into the pitch black nothingness of the backstage area.
