Preface

I was 12 when I decided that my life in Phoenix, Arizona was over. I didn't have any friends, except my mom and Bella, my 14 year old (15 in September) big sister. So I decided starting a new life with my dad, Chef of Police in Forks, Washington. My mom knew that I was unhappy there, not because of her or Bella, but because I was alone all the time and I enjoyed so much the small town that is raining all year and not so much the sunny city of Arizona, a bit different from my sister.

I knew that she didn't what me to move, but she just wants me to be happy so she accepted my choice.

My dad loved it. He loved me and Bella so much. But it was hard for him to just see us one month per year. And I really enjoyed being there with him.

I would miss my mom, but I wanted to spend more time too with my dad, and just begin a new life in a new town.

In July, before I entered 7th grade, I moved. Mom and Bella went with me to Forks to help me and my dad with all the things that I wanted to bring. And for my mom see if I stay well.

They spent one week in forks, and then they went back to Phoenix.

"Madi, this Saturday, there's a small party on the reservation, in La Push. Harry Clearwater's son birthday. Wanna come?" My dad said at the breakfast.

"Do I know someone that is going?" I asked

"Probably, I don't know if you remember Jacob Black, Billy Black's son."

"I think I remember him from last year, with Bella on the beach."

"The birthday boy is Seth. He is making 12. Your age. Probably you could be friends with him" he say, blinking his eye.

"Come on dad" I started laughing "but I'll come of course! Free food!" He laughed too "We need to get him a present?"

"Hmmmm I don't know. But we can pass in Newton's Shop if you want"

"Okay, dad!"

On Friday, dad took me to that store. To me to find out it was just a camping and hiking store. Typical from my dad.

I didn't find anything for a 12 year old boy, but we I started giving up I saw a beautiful key chain. It was a wolf. A silver metallic wolf. It was a whistle too. So I thought it would be fun. I really didn't know this guy so I didn't had much to offer.

My dad bought the gift and we went to his favorite restaurant in forks.

"Oh! You brought swimsuits? In the afternoon we are going to the beach and then, at night, it's in Harry's house."

"Yes I did. I was almost not bringing it but I thought some day, in the summer, it could be good for some time on the beach" I laughed, because, in Forks, it was rare a day with sun.

The next day, I choose the best one piece swimsuit that I had. Probably it would be the only day in this summer that I would use it, so why not. It was a dark blue whit some spots of white. Bella gave it to me on the begging of the summer and I really enjoyed. I dressed some shorts and a t-shirt and took a sweat from my wardrobe. It could be chilly at night.

When we got there, at the First Beach in La Push, my dad introduced me to Billy Black and Harry Clearwater. I remembered them from last year. The last one appointed me his son. He was playing with some other kids in the sand. I took my shirt and shorts and left them near my fathers stuff and then I gave him my wishes.

"Hi! Happy birthday! I'm Madison Swan. Charlie's daughter. Call me Madi." I said

" oh thanks! Yes! My father told me you were going to stay with your father now" Seth said.

"Yes, it got boring the life in a always sunny town" I laughed. "Hey! I got you something. I know it isn't anything, but I really didn't knew you" I smiled

"Oh it awesome! It is a whistle?" He said excited, looking at the wolf key chain. "My sister doesn't like that I have this things because it annoys her. It's perfect thanks!"

I laughed.

"Come, I will introduce you to my friends! Hey this is Madi!" He screamed to his friends.

He introduced me to his friends. Some older, and some younger. They all go to school in reservation. So in august I still had to make some friends in school but perhaps it will be easy too.

Me and Seth became really good friends. When his father went to my house we would go to the backyard to play or to my room to play some board games. And when our parents were going fishing I would go to La push and spend some time with him and his friends.
