Chapter 11: The beginning

My sister was already up when I woke, and my dad already had left to work. I got ready and went downstairs. Bella was staring at the kitchen wall. She didn't noticed that I was looking at her.

"Hey! Bella?" She looked at me.

"Sorry. Are you ready? I want to go earlier"

"Ummmm I just need to eat something and I'm ready" I said. She was strange. More than usual. I ate an yogurt. I wasn't that hungry. Then I went upstairs, brushed my teeth, got my school stuff and went downstairs. We got out of the house and got into the trunk. She pressed the gas and went on the direction of school.

"So, everything is okay? You are off today." I asked Bella.

"Mmmm yeah. Everything is fine"

"Are you going to say something about yesterday?"

"We just talked"

" mmm mmm okay..." if I was going to believe it.

We stayed silently for the rest of the way. We arrived at school. I got out of the trunk, so as Bella. But she didn't started walking to the building. She leaned to the trunk "I'm just gonna stay here for a bit" she said.

"Okay, so why did you what to come early?"

"Just to talk to someone." I looked around. She was waiting for someone? Who? Maybe Edward? The grey Volvo wasn't here yet.

"You mean Edward?"

"Madi, just go"

"Okay okay, bye."

I was 20 minutes early but Jessica and Jennifer were already in school. I spot Jessica's car in the parking lot, but because we were early they stayed inside the car. I went to the passenger side and Jennifer roll down the windows car. I leaned on to the door.

"Hey! So early?" Jennifer said.

"Bella wanted to come early. But she is just standing there to talk to someone."

"Probably Edward? She told you about yesterday?" Jessica said, looking at Bella.

"Nope. She just said that they talked. And one of my dad's friends was killed yesterday. So we didn't get to talk much. Just this morning. But she didn't said much." I said reminding me of yesterday. My dad was really down. I didn't even got to see him this morning.

"Oh yeah, I heard. He was our dad's friends too. There has been a lot of animal attacks in Washington lately." Jessica said getting out of the car. I stood up and Jennifer got out of the car too. We stayed by the car for a few minutes until everybody arrived at school. It was almost time for first period, and Bella was still leaning on to the trunk. We started getting into the building.

But then the Volvo arrived to the parking lot. It parked and the Cullens got out of the Volvo. Edward looked at Bella really weird. He stand there, frozen by his car. Rosalie looked at him with a reproachful look, but Alice grabbed her harm and pushed her to the school.

"Madi!" Jen called me. I didn't even noticed that I stopped and my friends were way in front of me. I was just looking curiously at my sister and I forgot that we started walking. But then, Bella started walking towards him, but she didn't stop, walking pass him. She continued her way to the forest behind Edward. "Madi! Como on! We are going to be late!" Jen was now beside me. She grabbed my harm to get me to start walking. I could hear the bell ring.

"Oh sorry!" I started walking towards the school. But when I locked one last time to the parking lot there were no Bella or Edward to be seen.

"Come on!" And we went to art class. I was really confused right now. Where was Bella going? To the woods? While dad said not to? Is Edward going with her? Why?

I didn't pay attention to art class nor the next classes. In algebra I could see that Edward wasn't there. So Bella, was she already at school?

At lunch time, Bella didn't came. And so as Edward, the Cullens table had only 4 today, again. Bella sent me a message that she got sick and went home but she will be here to pick me up after school. I sent her a message asking her what happened but she didn't reply to me. And Edward wasn't at the cafeteria too.

After school, I could see the trunk at the same spot that Bella parked this morning. I went to the passenger side. She was inside, looking at the steering wheel. I opened the trunk door and she looked at me and she gasped.

"Hey" I looked at her.

"Hey, come in." I got inside and she started the gas.

"Are you going to tell me the truth?" I asked

"I got sick."

"Mmmm okay, so the answer is no."

"I really got sick."

"So when did you got sick? While you were waiting for Edward? Or when you were at the woods with him?"

For some moments she didn't respond right away.

"Bella? I'm not going to forget about it."

"I just needed to talk to him. Then I went to class but I got sick and went to the infirmary and the nurse said to go home." Yeah, not going to believe that.

"Sick? How sick?"

"Bad head ache"

"How are you now?"

"Better. Thanks." I didn't say anything else. If I asked something she wouldn't say to me the truth or denied it. I know she was lying. I just know. There is a reason why Edward missed classes too.

The next day, we were getting down stairs to go to school.

"Madi, mmmm just don't ask questions okay?" She said. What was happening?

"Why would I ask something?" She opened the front door. There was Edward, with his Volvo, in front of our house. "Now I get it." She looked at me. Then to Edward. Getting down the front porch stairs.

"Hey! You didn't needed to." She said to Edward. Ignoring Bella.

"Hello Madi!" Edward spoke to me.

"Hi!" I said. Really not knowing what to say. I looked at Bella. Then to Edward.

"Come on. I'm your ride today." I opened my mouth, looking at Bella. She looked at me and she just shrugged.

We got in the car. Edward started the car. He drove really fast. No one was speaking.

"So you and my sister at like a thing now?" I asked to break the ice. I could see that he smiled. Beautifully.

"Madi! Just don't." Bella said, looking back.

"Mmmm something like that." He answered. Bella looked at him. What was happening? What on earth could my sister just pull this off? I was really impressed. He tried to hide his laugh, not doing a good job.

We arrived at school. I wouldn't mind another ride with him. He drove really fast and I like it. Edward got out of the car and I opened my door. He walked to Bella's door and opened it. What a gentleman. We got out of the car and closed the door.

Bella looked at me. "See you later!" She said. Then they started walking to school. Everyone was staring at them. Like everyone. I could see my friends faces looking at them like in shock. I was still standing by his car, shocked, too, like everyone else. I started walking to my friends. They were still looking at my sister and Edward walking together with his arm on her shoulders. Then the love birds disappeared into the building. I was already with my friends. They all stared at me. Jennifer broke the ice.

"What happened???!!!" She said, really surprised.
