Chapter 8: The Birthday

I woke up, everyone was still asleep. I went down stars to eat some cereal. Then I heard someone walk upstairs. I could hear that it was my sisters footsteps. She came down stairs. She saw that I was in the kitchen and came closer to me and hugged me.

"Happy birthday Madi!"

"Thanks Bella" I smiled.

"Oh wait!" She went upstairs. A short moment later she came down stares with a small box with a silver ribbon.

"Here. Happy birthday!"

"Presents? Really?"

"Come on! I'm your sister! Of course I'll give you something!" I glanced at her. "Come on! Open it!"

I opened the small box. It was a necklace. A silver necklace. It had a small heart with small letters in one of the sides. It had BM on it. Bella and Madi. Us. Sisters. It was perfect. Simple but perfect. Perfect for me.

"Oh! I love it Bella! I really do! It's perfect!" I put the small box on top of the kitchen table and hugged my sister.

"I'm glad you like it" she helped me put it on my neck. It was perfect.

We started talking about today and we heard dad coming down the stairs.

"Madi! Happy birthday!" he hugged me. "I can't believe you are already 15. It looks like you arrived here yesterday."

"Oh dad"

"You are growing up kid. You both are." He looked at Bella. Then we stopped hugging and he looked at me. "I can see you already have Bella's gift"

"Yes. It's perfect. I couldn't wish for more." I smiled.

"Mmm okay. I can return mine and your mother's gift, I guess..."

"Oh. Come one... well, if it's already bought why would you return it?" We all laughed.

"You're smart. Wait here." He went upstairs to pick up my gift. After a moment he was in the kitchen with a box. A big box. "Oh! It's from Phil's too"

I looked at him. I picked the box from his hands and it was a bit heavy. What was it? I took the wrapping paper of the box and I could se a box of a laptop. Whenever I needed to do some work for school, I used my dad's computer or lately my sister's. Now I have my one?

"A laptop?" I said amused.

"Yeah, me and your mother figured out that you needed your own. In high school you have more work to do in on of this so. Bella helped picking it up" dad said. I looked at them.

I put my new computer on the table and hugged them.

"Thank you so much! I need to call mom and Phil thanking too."

"Come on. I'll help you setting it up before we go to the beach." Bella said.

We and our friends agreed to go to the beach at 9am. Some time before, we got out of home in the direction of La Push beach. We arrived shortly after. They all great me with a huge hug and some wishes of happy birthday. When the ones that were going to surf were getting their suits on, me, Bella and Angela, the ones that would stay on earth were in the back of Tyler's van and someone's van chatting and eating some gummies. The waves where a bit down so they were disappointed. But they were saying that they would paddling out even though.

"So, I keep thinking that Eric's gonna ask me to the prom, and he just doesn't." Angela said, just for me and Bella.

"You should ask him" Bella said. "Take control. You're a strong independent woman."
