Peter strolled trough the streets of Queens, his head bobbing to the beat of the music blaring through his Stark issued headphones. As he walked, Peter passed by the park. Since it was a nice day and hew as running early for once, he thought it would be a nice change in pace to go through the park before heading to school.

The large rot-iron gates were wide open and people milled about either walking their dogs or going for a morning jog. It was peaceful and a welcoming change compared to his usual fighting crime and saving the world. Even though he's a hero, it get's tiring. One can only have their ass kicked so many times before they snap.

Peter walked between a few trees and watched as a few teens walked by him. He didn't think much of it, but that changed when a rock went sailing by his head.

He peeked around the tree truck he was leaning on and saw that the group of three teens stopped and were chucking rocks at something in the grass. The boys were laughing and taunting their target as they crept closer and closer to it.

Peter stepped out of his hiding place and stood in front of the boys, shooting an icy glare at them. The grass behind him rustled and he felt something rub against his leg, but he didn't dare take his eyes off of the group.

"What are you doing?" One of them demanded, clutching a rock tightly.

"I should be asking you that." He shot back, trying to contain his anger.

"Bastard-" He was about to throw he rock, but one of his friends stopped him.

"Luke! We're gonna be late!"

"I don't care! This guys is asking for a beating!"

They grabbed Luke by the arms and dragged him away from Peter and out of the park. Peter sighed and looked down at the ground where a little green snake rested it's head on his shoe.

The poor creature was beaten pretty bad. It's left eye was closed tightly and had several parts where it's body was a dark purple. Peter bent down and gently lifted the snake off the ground, allowing it to wrap it's body around his wrist. The snake couldn't have been more than a foot long and it's head was no bigger than a dime.

"Hey little guy. Those jerks wont bother you anymore." Peter ran his finger carefully along the snakes head.  The snake stuck it's tongue out and liked his fingers in thanks. Peter laughed a little. "That tickles!"

Peter's phone buzzed and he gasped. "I'm late!"

He looked down at the injured snake. He couldn't just leave the poor thing here to die and if he went to the animal hospital, it would take him a while hour to get there by foot. He can't web his way there since last week, he damaged his suit so much that he was still trying to repair it. He could just take it with him, but he could get in trouble and the snake could be dying and he wouldn't even know it.

Eh screw it.

Peter smiled down at the snake and turned around, going back the way he came and in the direction of the animal hospital. He shot a quick text to Tony, explaining the situation, leaving out the part about the animal being a snake. Tony was okay with Peter taking the animal in, but he wasn't too sure about Peter skipping school to do it.

Peter assured Tony that it was a review day and that he wasn't missing anything too important. Tony offered to call Happy and have him take the teen, but Peter declined saying that Happy was spending the day with his niece.

Peter walked through the streets of Queens once again, but this time, he had a companion to make the trip a little less lonely. The snake gazed up at him with human-like eyes. The creature had only ever felt something like this once before and it made the animal's heart feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
