Night LydiaLydia:
Night LiTurning his phone off for the evening, Liam tries to go back to sleep, but after staring at his phone screen he knows it won’t be as easy as the first time, rolling onto his right Liam can see the glare of Scott’s computer screen through his eyelids, the sound of keyboard keys being pressed echo around the quiet room, glancing over at Scott whom he shared a room with, Liam watches him type quickly, most likely trying to finish his assignment before the deadline date.
“Scott, I’m not going to be home till late afternoon tomorrow, Lydia’s going to start the tutoring once I finish class, just thought I’d let you know so you don’t end up driving to pick me just to find I’m not there.”
Liam hears Scott grunt, clearly not wanting to be distracted from his work, biting his bottom lip nervously, Liam knows he’ll ask about it tomorrow whilst dropping him off at school, looking towards his step brother he sighs guessing that was their communication for the evening, pulling the dark blue blanket up to his chin, Liam focuses on falling back asleep, tomorrow’s going to be a really, really long day.
Rubbing his eyes tiredly, Liam struggles to detangle himself from his blanket, almost falling out of bed in the process, gripping the mattress to stop himself from hitting the ground, Liam checks Scott’s bed, making sure he hasn’t woken him in the commotion, grabbing a pair of long pajama pants, he trudges downstairs knowing Melissa was most likely already downstairs making coffee.
“G’morning” walking to the cupboard to get himself a mug, he notices the waffle makers out on the counter, “you’re making waffles?”
“Only once Scott wakes up, which’ll have to be soon if you want to make it to school on time” Melissa replies, casually sipping her coffee.
Stirring two spoonfuls of sugar into his mug, Liam sits on the other side of the island, facing Melissa, instantly he notices how exhausted she was, dark shadows linger prominently underneath her eyes, it was no surprise to Liam that Melissa most likely returned home during the early hours of the morning, and no doubt would be returning to work later that evening.
“I need to tell you something” sipping his coffee that secretly burnt his tongue Liam starts to ramble, “this ‘something’ is quite important but I’m scared to tell you in case you get mad at me, I thought about maybe texting it to you, that looks kinda bad though, don’t you think? I know you’ll probably reassure me by saying you won’t get mad, but I reckon you will…”
“Woah, woah, woah, Liam just calm down and take a breath” reaching across the island, Melissa holds one of his hands in hers, “one step at a time, okay?”
Nodding slowly, Liam’s eyes stay focused on the white counter, his heart was almost in his mouth, “Mr Yandal’s tutoring isn’t helping me one bit, I - I don’t really like his techniques either” swallowing nervously he continues, “in my last test I only scored fifteen percent, I spoke with Stiles girlfriend Lydia last night, she’s offered to tutor me herself, free of charge.”
“What do you mean, you don’t like his techniques?”
His mouth opens but as quickly as it opens, it closes again, scratching his cheek Liam looks up at Melissa for the first time that morning, “he over confuses everything, I think that’s why I don’t find his tutoring sessions helpful. Are you mad at me for wasting your money?”
