Liam and Mason sit cross legged on Mason's freshly made bed that he only remembers to makes when they push open the door and see how much of a mess it was, they each hold a different coloured game controller, their eyes locking onto the screen across from them as they play fortnight, one of their favourite games; if it wasn't for Mason, Liam probably wouldn have started playing it.
"Did I tell you about the incident where I messaged somebody thinking it was Lydia and it turned out to be a complete jack-ass?" Mumbles Liam casually as his eyes scan the screen, looking for the enemy.
Choking with surprise Mason quickly turns the game off, suddenly more interested in what his best-friend has to say; only Liam would accidently message stranger just to find out they're an asshole, "you contacted a psychopath didn't you," hurrying over to his bedroom window Mason quickly pulls the curtains shut. "He's probably outside watching us as we speak."
Glancing across to the closed green curtains, Liam wonders about what Theo may be doing, his brows almost knit together as he frowns, it's a habit he picked up from his dad - frowning whenever he begins to think. "No Mase, I didn't contact some psycho dude fresh out of Eichen House," rolling his eyes and dropping the control beside him on the bed, Liam sighs. "I mean he doesn't seem that bad of a person; we called the other day and he helped me finish off all my homework, he's pretty attractive too I think he'd catch your eye if you saw him."
Mason smirks at Liam knowingly , yet keeps quiet because it wasn't his job to point out the obvious, "go on."
"He's got terrible people skills and the worst time management I've ever known." Pulling his phone out from his back pocket, Liam scrolls through his messages until he finds his and Theo's old conversations, not realising that he has an unread message from him.
Theo
Theo:
Corey told me that I need to apologise for waking you at 'stupid o'clock' because it was rude and inconsiderate.Peaking over Liam's shoulder to see the message, Mason gawks at it in surprise, wiggling his eyebrows the best he can Mason asks, "so what were you guys doing at stupid o'clock then, or do I not want to know."
Liam:
ur not sorry in the slightest, r u?Theo:
Not at all, next time though don't scare the hell out of me so much or so help me god I'll kill you."See, he's a jack-ass, even if he did apologise which he won't, he still needs somebody to tell him to do it!" Throwing his phone against Mason's pillow, Liam flops onto his back, his head rests against Mason's knobbly knee.
Still resting against Mason, Liam goes on to explain how he contacted Theo thinking it was Lydia, he mentions how Theo was to begin with - rude and arrogant but after mentioning that he didn't really have anyone to help him with his homework at home, the older boy seemed to have softened towards him slightly, "I even set his contact name to Not Lydia at one point."
Wiping the tears that stream down his face away with the cuff of his shirt, Mason leans back slightly and looks up at the popcorn ceiling, "this still doesn't explain what the both of you were doing at 'stupid o'clock' Liam," he points out, wanting to hear more of the story. "Were you playing strip poker or something?"
Liam blushes with embarrassment, yet he can't help but wonder what Theo would look like with a top on, or even joggers for that matter, trying to cover up his embarrassment, he sits up and shoves Mason off his own bed, "no we weren't playing strip poker, I think he was very much dressed when he called me," Liam starts, he buries his face in his hands to hide the redness of his cheeks. "He makes music, when he called me he'd just finished recording something and wanted my unbiased opinion, we talked for a bit that's all."
Rubbing the back of his head that he unintentionally hit against his desk when he fell, Mason pokes his head up to glare at Liam, "I don't know whether you forgot to read the rule book," he starts teasingly. "But you're not meant to push your best-friend off their own bed; it's very uncivilised. Also this guy you've mentioned, Theo. He makes music, he can get your F ass to an A ass and you still haven't asked him out on a date?"
"Firstly, you forgot to give me the rule book Mase, secondly I don't date guys, that's your thing." Grabbing a hold of Mason's outstretched hand, Liam pulls him back onto his feet with a slight laugh, but as quickly as Mason gets to his feet, he shoves Liam off the otherside of the bed, he lands with a loud thump.
Downstairs Mrs Hewitt calls out, "boys, can you try not to break my ceiling please."
After deciding that they'd played enough video games, and that Liam was pretty terrible at most of them, they both lay sprawled out on the carpeted floor, arms crossed underneath their heads, "did you ever find out why Hayden was late to class the other day, was she actually crying in the girls bathroom like you said?" Liam turns his head to look at Mason who wears a thoughtful expression on his face.
Mason tries to think over his reply, obviously he can't tell Liam the truth otherwise it'll make their friendship awkward, Liam knowing that Hayden was crying because of him, "she was crying over Nolan," he glances up at the ceiling ignoring the look on Liam's face, disappointment. "Like who cries over the new kid?"
"Why are you lying to me?"
"How did you-"
Shaking his head in disbelief at how quickly Mason basically gave into letting him know it was a lie Liam explains to him how he noticed it was a lie, "you were avoiding eye contact with me, plus you were holding your breath, you'd be surprised how many people do that when lying."
