CHAPTER 10

Devin's POV

["Anak, I need you"] my mom called me while I was preparing my things.

"Mom? Bakit?"

["Just come quick!"] she said before ending the call.

I immediately got my keys and went inside the car. I drove to my grandparent's house as fast as I could. I saw my mother sitting on a bench outside the house, smiling at me.

"Why? What happened?" I sat beside her.

"Let's talk anak," my mom calmly said.

"About what ma?"

"I-I want your dad back," she stuttered.

"Seriously ma? 'Di ba ikaw ang nakipaghiwalay? Then you're telling me you want him back right after you pushed him away?"

"Anak please! I won't live any longer and I want him to come back to me. I want the three of us to be together, sa states. Tumira tayo sa states," she continuously told me while holding my hands tight.

"You don't know what you're saying ma, I have obligations and responsibilities here so as dad. Ma, hindi gan'on kadali ang gusto mo," I explained.

"Bring him back to us, or else"

"Or else what?"

"I'll die," she threatened me.

I stood up with my fists clenched. I can't believe my mother, she wasn't like that before. I just shook my head and ran back inside my car. I sighed and drove back home to immediately look for my dad.

I found him inside our library, reading. "Dad I need to talk to you".

Patrick's POV

"Ano bro? Tuloy na ba kayo?" tanong ko sakaniya.

"Yes, sorry if I couldn't come to your birthday Pat," he apologized.

"Oks lang 'yon tol, basta ingat kayo," mapait ko siyang nginitian na naging dahilan ng pagkakunot ng noo niya.

"Dude? Are you crying?"

"N-no," I denied.

"Dude! Fuck you!" he bursted a laugh while I was wiping my cheeks.

"Kasi naman tol, ano bang naisip ng mama mo at biglang gusto na niyang lumipat kayo sa states?" I asked him, annoyed.

"It's for her health, I'll just do what's best for her even if it cost my other priorities," he explained.

"P'ano kung may chicks ka na maghanap sa'yo, ano sasabihin ko?"

"Chicks? Wish I have one," he smirked.

"Your classmates or what"

"Just tell them I'm busy, always".

I celebrated my party without my bestfriend. I will surely miss him though but I have nothing to do with it. Devin was once my enemy, actually I forgot how we became friends but all I know is he was there when I was on rockbottom.

I was amused when Reese was finding for him. She actually called me before my party just to ask if Devin will come. I have a feeling that she has a crush on him but like what my friend said, I told Reese that he was just busy.

"Hinahanap ka ni Reese, my girl bestfriend," I said on a call.

["Really? Why? What did you said?"] Devin seems to be excited about what I just said.
