Laurel gathered her materials and separated the sap samples into 6 different testing bowls and delegated a different combinations of ingredients to each sampler bowl. In the first dish, Laurel dropped vegetable oil and semplume seeds, turning the white sap to a bluish color, indicating that there is indeed extra additives to the original sap. Laurel then titled the bowl in a circular path, and slowly, the blue pigment began to separate from the clear sap. Laurel took the blue substance and put it into a different sampler bowl for later investigation.
By repeating a similar process on each of the bowls, Laurel discovered that her earlier hunch was supported; the serum did indeed target the section of the brain that dealt with memory. The poison in the sap slowly was to be attacking the aforementioned sector of the brain and caused a memory block, reducing the target to an empty shell with no recollection of events prior to infiltration of the brain. Laurel was certain that she knew the purpose of the serum, but what she questioned was how she was going to create an antidote. Laurel didn't like it, but the only solution was clear. If the poison was made by Callista, there would only be one way to devise an antidote; by replicating the poison and devising a rival antidote. She once again had to put herself in Klea's shoes.
