Chapter 80

This is going to be long. I feel so bad for not updating. I've been writing other fanfictions and my book and... Ugh.

Here's the chapter:

Tamani POV

It's been a month and all seems quiet, thank Hecate. The kids have been going to school and I constantly have three guards of the eight that left Avalon watching them at all times. The eight that are with us have escaped Avalon, for one reason or another. They were all guarding the gate in Orick and decided to revolt against Marion. One of the guards, Jackson, was a commander who had collaborated with Marion directly. He left when he had an opportunity, killing six loyal fae on his way to us.

I'm on the wayto the bus, walking through the streets, when I see a large figure limping down the street in the opposite direction. His hair covers his face in wet strands and his face looks gaunt. I feel light headed; it couldn't be. But as he approaches, I see someone who I never thought I'd see again. As his head appears in the light, I see I'm not mistaken... It's Shar.

"Shar?" I murmur.

His head jerks up as he passes and says, "What?"

"Shar, oh my gosh."

"What in the eye of Hecate do you want, boy?"

"Don't play games! Why- HOW are you here?!"

Shar approaches and puts his hand on my arm. He says to me, "Sorry about this, lad."

He immediately starts trying to entice me. Then, dumbfounded, he steps back and asks, "Did they do this to you? IS THIS WHAT THEY'RE DOING NOW?! HELPING HUMANS!"

"Woah. Calm down." I really don't understand this situation, but the first thing I need to do is calm him down now that I know he isn't joking. I need to calm him down in order to get any information as to how he's alive. "I'm fae."

Shar visibly relaxes, then says, "Where am I?"

"California," I respond quietly.

"Who are you?" He asks.

"...You mean... You don't remember me?"

"Never you seen you before in my life."

"We need to get you to Laurel," I say.

"Who's Laurel?"

"A fall faerie. She'll get you straight."

"What exactly happened?" He asks.

"I think you've been hit with a memory serum."

"Memory serum?"

"Yeah. What do you remember?"

"Ummm. I'm a Spring. My name is Shar. I'm a sentry. I was trying to save Avalon."

"Listen... I don't know if you know this, Shar... But...you've been 'dead' for the last twenty or so years."

"Twenty," he whispered dumbfounded.

I hurry him to Laurel, calling Chelsea on the way, telling her to pick up the kids because there was an emergency that WAS NOT life threatening.

"Laurel!" I call, frantically.

She runs down the stairs with a look of concern. When she sees Shar, she goes pale and faints on the staircase.

Yayyy! Shar's alive!!! I'm trying to recover feels lost throughout the Wings series! Hehe! I know that I can never truly do that, because my writing doesn't even compare to that of Aprilynne Pike's, but nevertheless I'm trying...
