Darkness tilted its head, resting his face on his palm as he watched the scene unfold in front of him. He sighed as another great empire slowly crumbled to ruin. Great leaders fall to their demise. He chuckled seeing people struggle and run from what they thought was their haven.

"They run away from me, only to come back seeking for sanctuary" avowed Darkness.

Darkness leaned back on it's throne made from a dark nebula, watching the scene presume in front of him. Human beings ruining themselves for their selfish needs. But Darkness couldn't find himself to loathe them either. Even though, humans fought mercilessly against each other, they still stood by each other without even knowing. It was almost amusing to Darkness.

So many planets spread across the vastness of the Universe, yet Earth has in her embrace one of the most interesting creations that has been created. They didn't have any special abilities or limbs like their fellow inhabitants, yet they managed to flourish through the millennial.

Almost every human had one thing in common. They craved for balance. But so hard it is to maintain order when chaos comes so easily. Although they craved for balance, they don't strive in it. They desire for equipoise but they always teeter the balance too much to one side.

And then title Darkness the cause of their pandemonium.

A few lovers of the night caught Darkness' eyes. It watched as they stared earnestly at the night  sky. Darkness noticed that the stars and moons didn't shine bright enough. It chuckled softly and made the sky a little darker so that glowing bodies shined brighter.

After a solemn sigh, Darkness rose from its throne. It's thick, tenebrous presence shrouding the the region around him like a robes gliding across the ground. With a gentle movement of it's hand, the scene that continued to resume in front of him vanished.

Darkness had seen enough and was well aware that there will be no turmoil on Earth. But soon it stopped in its steps when it a saw a kaleidoscope of colors, like a bridge, reach upon Earth from the lighted parts of the universe and disappear in a few seconds.

Darkness' eyes widen as it realized what happened. Light had left his territory and ventured to Earth. Darkness was aware of Light's intentions to take over his region and spread it's ray all across the universe.

Darkness waited for some moments, eyes trained upon Earth. He hoped that Light will only be on Earth briefly, but several units of time had passed, but there was no bridge leaving the Earth. Darkness' eyes widen further as it traveled through the cosmos at a speed greater that light.

Never had it imagined that Light would take a step this grave, all because of it's desire to erase darkness. Little did Light realize, as long as it existed, there will always be darkness. For, there cannot be any presence of something, if there was no absence of it in the first place.

Light without Darkness was useless.

But, Darkness without Light is the victor.

A grunt left Darkness' lips as it approached Earth and quickly searched for a lost soul. Someone on the brink of losing their existence. Luckily, the search wasn't for too long. For, Darkness found a boy who loved the night but was slowly fading away each day.

"I'm sorry" Darkness whispered, "I wish I could bring you back you soul"

Darkness carried the boy in its robe so that body stayed warm. Soon, Darkness had taken the form of the child and arrived upon Earth.

But neither of the cosmic being aware of what held for them. For, things are not always as they seem.
