Dark Light

CHAPTER THIRTEEN

A subtle epiphany 

"How do you bring me here?" Light asked, taking an offensive stance.

Darkness tilted its head, "And why would I tell you?"

"Well then" Light growled, dangerous shades of reds splattering across its body. A glowing trident showed in its hand, as its fingers gripped around the girth of the handle, "I'll force the answer out of you"

Darkness chuckled, conjuring a stygian double-edged spear in its hand. The weapon was surrounded by ominous dark smoke that spewed out from where Darkness held it. It lifted the weapon, pointing the tip towards Light with a dangerous smirk on its face, "We'll see"

They both charged towards each other. The moment their minacious swords clashed against each other, sparks of sliver, red, grey flew across. Darkness flipped the spear in its, aiming towards Light's body. However, the other primordial being stopped its attack, trapping the end of the spear in between the gaps of its trident. Light grinned evilly, conjuring a twisted dagger in its hand. Darkness scowled, glaring at Light before freeing its spear and retracting a few steps back.

"Very well" Darkness mumbled. As it circled the spear around its form, thick robes of darkness followed. It stood up against Darkness like a wall. Then Darkness slammed its hand on the surface, the walls crashing down along with it. It looked up at Light with a smug look. Few seconds later, the entire surface converted in a soft material. Ripples of darkness spreading out from where it stood and spread throughout. Light tried to fly up to avoid the oncoming waves, however the moment its feet left the ground, chains of darkness shot up from the ground and wrapped it self around Light's ankle.

Light groaned, falling back to the surface only to be attacked by the ripples.

Darkness watched with amusement as Light flickered in its form, trying to calm its rage. Greyness grew from the flat of Light's foot, rising up to its knees. Light cried out in pain, trying to stand up. Darkness watched amused as Light's form flickered in its form. Darkness was tempted to taunt Light of its little defeat however, Darkness knew better than to enrage Light any further. Darkness had the upper hand in every possible way. The only reason it couldn't win this battle was Light had grown considerably stronger in the past few years.

Darkness waved its hand around as a dark wave swirled across Light. However, instead of fighting back, Light stayed calm in its place. Its form no longer flickered. And somehow, it was gaining back its glow.

"It isn't possible" Darkness muttered to itself before throwing a globe of darkness towards. It got deflected before it could hit Light. Darkness realized that the glow around Light was a shield. Under a few moments, Darkness understood what Light as was trying to do. Immediately, Darkness charged towards Light trying to break the field of concentration surrounding Light.

Light was concentrating its power in searching for the pathways that lead to this place of the damned. Darkness kept on executing one attack after another to break its concentration. Darkness couldn't let Light know the pathways, because if it did then Light would gain the power to bring them to this place. And if that happened, Darkness might not be able to gain back enough power before Light started another battle. It would lose an important advantage. Darkness couldn't let that happen.

It groaned in frustration when its blows fail to do much damage to the field around Light. There was one thing Darkness could do. Crush Light. It was dangerous move, the result being a lose-lose situation. Using that amount of power would drain to the point, it might not have enough energy left to go back. Especially due to the presence of the hungry damned essences. But if Darkness didn't do so, Light will find out the pathways and that would damage its plan anyways.

Darkness grumbled and without further ado, started concentrating enough power in place. It's from shook, fading a little as humongous cloud of darkness formed above Light. While Darkness grew weaker, so did Light.

It had taken Darkness an entire decade to find enough pathways that let to this place and Light was trying to do the same under a few moments. It was drawing a conspicuous amount of power from Light's body.

Darkness had to do it now or never. But just as Darkness was about to bring the cloud down, Light's form flickered to its most vulnerable form. It's mortal form. And for a fraction of second, Darkness saw Jimin in front of it. That short, barely registrable vision was enough to break Darkness concentration. The cloud broke into a thousand pieces. Many of its pieces being devoured by the hungry souls, while the rest of it returned back to Darkness. Once Darkness realized the fatal mistake it had committed, it was too late.

Light's eyes were wide, glowing in a blinding manner. Its form lowered down to half its size. But yet there was inerasable smirk on its face as it looked up at Darkness.

And Darkness knew right away that Light had discovered the pathways. The damage was done. Darkness growled, transforming it spears into ten daggers that circled in front of Darkness. One by one they charged towards Light. However, the field around Light was still present. The daggers were finally able to break it down. This time, one hit might have been to bring a heavy damage to Light.

Darkness took a step back, pressing its feet down on the surface to get a strong hold. Its hand was directed towards the ground, as the powers surged out of its form. The ground cracked, tendrils of darkness shooting out and aiming towards Light.

But the other cut them off despite the effort it took. Light was panting hard, but still stood up strong. Darkness understood that Light was going to use the rest of powers in the next attack, but Darkness couldn't let that happen. If Light fades into oblivion in this place, Darkness will be stuck here as well.

So, right before Light could take its next move, Darkness channeled its energy towards the pathways. Light growled right before both their forms transformed into smoke that flew back to Earth.
