After the whole ghosts coming back to life, Mason Lockwood had showed Damon a secret tunnel in the Lockwoods cellar but he wasn't able to go further into the tunnel due to him being a vampire.
So the next day Ashley, Elena and Ric were walking through these tunnels to see what Mason wanted to show Damon, "The Lockwoods really have no idea that these tunnels are underneath their property?" Elena exclaimed looking around the tunnel with the torch.
"Careful where you shine that thing. Bats hate the light." Alaric warned walking further into the tunnel.
Ashley stopped in her tracks, "Wait, what?" Damon secretly came up and whispered behind her, "Ashley!"
She turned around and saw that it was Damon, "Damon!" She exclaimed hitting his shoulder playfully.
He gave her a peck on the lips which earned a jealous look from Elena, "So, you really can't get in?" Elena asked.
Damon shook his head, "No. Seems even the ancient Lockwoods were anti-vampire."
Elena frowned, "What do you mean, ancient?" Damon gestured forward for them to continue walking, "See for yourself."
They all walked further into the tunnels, to the cave with drawings on the walls, "Well, this is as far as I get to go." Damon stated standing outside the cave.
Ashley entered the chamber shining her flashlight on the walls with the drawings, "What is all this?" She questioned looking at the drawers in wonder.
"Well, as far as I can tell, it's a story. In simple, archaeological terms, it's a really, really old story." Alaric explained pointing at the wall, "That right there, is the moon cycle." He pointed at another drawing, "A man, a wolf."
Ashley stared at the drawings, "A werewolf." Damon nodded, "Yeah, it's the "Lockwood Diaries: Pictionary-Style.""
Elena shook her head, "I don't understand. I thought the Lockwoods came here with the Original Founders in the 1860s."
"I don't know. Maybe the Lockwoods did, but according to this wall, these werewolves have been here a lot longer than that." Alaric stated.
"How long?" Ashley inquired.
"Long. It gets better. Show them, Ric." Damon ushered to Alaric to continue explaining.
"Names. They're not native. They're written in Runic, a Viking script." He said pointing at one if the names written, "This name here, I translated it and it reads Niklaus and Elijah...and Rebekah."
Ashley stared at the drawings in wonder letting her hand trace the drawing, she closed her eyes anticipating the vision to hit her.
Rebekah was standing in the cave using a knife to carve her name in Runic into the cave wall while Klaus was standing behind her holding a burning wooden torch watching his sister.
