Ashley led her friends through the woods to the old Fell crypt, "There it is!"

Bonnie raised her eyebrows looking around, "This is creepy, even for us."

Ashley shook her head, "No, Caroline was right...technically, she's dead." she turned to Caroline smiling, "You don't need a birthday, you need a funeral. You need to say goodbye to your old life, so that you can move on with your new one." Caroline smiled at the redhead

Taking her crown off she sighed, "Here lies Caroline Forbes..."

Elena started putting candles on the birthday cake, "Cheerleader, Miss Mystic Falls, third grade hopscotch champion..."

"Friend, daughter, overachiever..." Bonnie said smiling.

"The best sister anyone could ever ask for" Ashley said remembering how Caroline was the only one who was there for her

Caroline smiled a genuine smile at her sister, "Mean girl, sometimes, no offense." Matt continued, "Ah, none taken." Caroline dismissed.

"She was 17, and she had a really good life. So rest in peace, so that she can move forward." Elena said walking up to Caroline holding the cake in front of her.

"That's what you really need. What we all really need. Amen, or cheers or whatever." Elena stated before turning to Bonnie, "Bonnie?" Bonnie nodded lighting the candles with her magic.

"Nice! Okay, make a wish." Ashley said nudging the blonde forward, Caroline smiled closing her eyes making a wish.

The five friends sat together eating cake and passing the tequila bottle around, "Caroline, what are you doing?" Ashley asked frowning at the blonde who was on her phone probably texting Tyler.

"What? Nothing." She stopped texting holding her hands down in front of her trying to hide the phone.

"Okay, you're a bad sober liar. You're an even worse drunk liar." Elena said now turning to Caroline.

"I might have texted Tyler." Caroline confessed looking down in shame.

"Caroline..." Elena trailed, "What? I'm delicate."

"Give her a break! You can't control what everyone does all the time." Bonnie snapped.

An awkward silence settled between the two women, "Wow." Elena said looking at Bonnie.

"Sorry, I know it's Caroline birthday, funeral or whatever but, I just feel it's really wrong that you compelled Jeremy to leave town." Bonnie said.

Elena frowned at her friend, "I'm doing it to protect him, Bonnie. I want to give him a chance to have a quiet normal life."

"He should be able to choose how he wants to live it, you're taking his choices away." Bonnie stated.

"Bonnie, you can't tell him." Elena begged looking at her friend, "Why? Are you gonna compel me not to?"
