The redhead was getting ready for the homecoming dance when Caroline called her, "Change of plans, Ash. Party's at Tyler"

"Why?" She asked as she put her shoes on.

"The gym is flooded, I'll be waiting for you there" Caroline said.

"Okay fine" The redhead hung up frowning at the sudden turn of events

Ashley walked into the party with Caroline beside her looking around searching for anyone she knew, she wished she could be normal going to homecoming with her boyfriend but her life is far from normal, "How did he plan a better party than me so fast?" Caroline wondered then she looked at the windows seeing the lights, "What? Is that a band outside?"

"Who are all these people?" Ashley asked looking around.

Caroline frowned shaking her head, "This is weird! Where is Tyler?" She said walking further into the mansion

Ashley decided to go outside for fresh air, "Ashley" She heard her name being called so she turned around to find none other than the hybrid himself.

"Klaus" She acknowledged with disdain turning to him with a fake smile, his eyes wandered her body before settling on her eyes, "You look ravishing tonight, love. Hope you're enjoying the party"

"Oh yeah very, you know if you weren't busy turning werewolves into hybrids or ruining people's lives I'd have suggested pursing a career in event planning" She said sarcastically.

Klaus laugh vibrated in the air before his eyes settled on her again somehow soft, "I've been planning my father's funeral for a thousand years. That's the least I can do"

Ashley stared at him not knowing what to say she saw how Mikael abused Klaus which reminded her of her past before Liz found her, she looked around getting angry at how easy Klaus was talking to her, "You seem nervous" He commented.

"More like angry, I mean what do you think I would feel talking to the guy who's terrorizing my friends" She stated.

"People have been after me for a thousand years and I'm always one step ahead: So whatever it is you're thinking of trying, go for it. Give it your best shot. You won't succeed." He stated with confidence.

"Try what? No one is trying any thing" She argued.

"If that so then you'd be smart to tell Damon to mind his manners tonight, because if I die, I've already ensured that he'll die along with me! Even in death my hybrids have their orders. So, you kill me you're killing him too." Klaus threatened walking away from the redhead.

Ashley was angry to say the least she wanted to find Damon as soon as possible but not before calling Stefan and telling him all about Klaus' threats until she found Damon in front of the mansion, "Damon!" She called out.

He stopped in his tracks sighing heavily, "Ash, please leave it's very dangerous out there"

"Why is its dangerous, Damon? Are you planning something?" She questioned but Damon dismissed her, "Look! I don't have time for this but I promise I'll explain everything later" He said heading for the door.

"But Klaus just----" the words died in her throat as she was injected with something making her fall on the floor unconscious, Katherine stood behind her with a now empty syringe.

"What have you done?" He ran to the redhead who was laying on the floor checking her, "Relax it's just wolfsbane, Now go" Damon looked like he was debating which choice he was going to make before shaking his head and rushing into the mansion leaving his girlfriend.

Ashley opened her eyes slowly adjusting to the light before realizing she was on her couch, "Hey you're up" Caroline said smiling slightly.

"What happened?" Ashley asked sitting up still lightheaded.

Caroline sighed, "Wolfsbane, Tyler and Bonnie brought you here"

She nodded remembering what happened, "Is Damon---" She inquired unsure if she wants to hear the answer, "He's fine"

Ashley nodded before walking to her bedroom to find Damon on her bed, "What are you doing here?"

"I didn't want to do this" Damon looked down remorseful.

"Did you?" She scoffed crossing her arms in front of her chest, "I think you should leave"

She couldn't believe him after everything they had been through together she felt like Damon didn't trust her or more like wanted to keep her out of the picture, she knew that all summer she had been ignoring him she knew he and Elena got closer but she wanted to ignore that fact.

"I kept the plan away from you because I didn't want you to get hurt" He started.

"How many times do I have to tell you that I can take care of myself?" Ashley asked exasperated at Damon's actions.

"Look the plan failed, there's nothing to discuss anymore"

She shook her head, "This is not about the stupid plan this is about you, Damon. You didn't listen to me you didn't trust me enough to" She looked down eyes shining with unshed tears, "But you trusted Elena and Katherine over me" she shook her head turning around, "Just leave" she heard the whoosh sound which made her believe that he's gone.

Caroline walked into her house putting her stuff down When all of a sudden Ashley, Elena, Matt, and Bonnie jump out with balloons, party hats, and a sign.

"Happy birthday!" They all yelled in sync.

"What are you guys doing here?" Caroline asked shocked.

"Well you blew off school and missed our work of birthday art, so..." Elena said taking off the crown she was wearing and putting it on Caroline's head.

"Change into warmer clothes, we are going to the Falls. S'mores, camp fire.." Bonnie stated, "Cake! Like when we were little." Ashley said excited.

"Except for the tequila!" Matt mused with the tequila bottle.

Caroline sighed heavily, "Thanks, guys. Really, um, I'm just not feeling my birthday this year."

"I'm sorry, what? You've already claimed your birthday as everyone's favorite day of the year." Bonnie said.

"Yeah, and now, it's just a reminder that technically, I'm dead. Look, I didn't even like 17. And the only point to being 17 is to get to 18. It's a filler year; I'm stuck in a filler year." she paused a moment seeing the sympathy looks her friends were giving her, "but it's okay. You know, it's all good, I'll be fine. But I just need some time to wallow in it."

Ashley pondered an idea in her head before smiling at her sister, "Maybe you don't have to, I have a place in mind" She said excited.
