Ashley opened her eyes staring at Klaus, "If you don't feed me your blood, I'll die." She said weakly.

Klaus didn't look at her but he answered, "Then you'll die, and Tyler will have learned his lesson the hard way."

Ashley gulped, "How could you do this to him? To his mom? To me?" She wondered her breath getting caught in her throat.

He shrugged, "I'm a thousand years old. Call it boredom."

"I don't believe you."

"Fine. Then maybe it's because I'm pure evil, and I can't help myself."

"No, It's because you were hurt. Which means that there is a part of you that is human, a part of you worth caring about" She said between ragged breathes.

Klaus approached her, sitting on the table next to the sofa, "How could you possibly think that?"

"Because I've seen it. Because...I've caught myself finding excuses for everything bad you've ever done I wanted to forget it, forget that you're the bad guy"

"But you can't. Can you?" He inquired with a vulnerable look in his eyes.

"I know that you're in love with me. And anybody capable of love is capable of being saved, I have faith in you, Klaus. A faith that you're going to be a better person someday"

Klaus' eyes started glistening he appeared to have been moved by Ashley's words, he shook his head turning his back on her, "You're hallucinating."

Ashley blinked weakly her voice fading, "I guess I'll never know." Her breath catched in her throat

"Ashley?"

Her breathing was labored then weak and fading, For a moment longer Klaus looked torn, but finally he lifted Ashley into a sitting position.

He sat behind her, biting open his wrist, he put it to her mouth and she started drinking, Klaus smoothed her hair as she regained strength and continued to drink.

After a while Ashley stood in the kitchen with the phone to her ears, "We need to find the sword, our friends need our help" Caroline said

"Okay, I'm on my way" She hung up

"Need my help with anything, love?" she heard Klaus ask with an amused smile.

"Nope." Ashley strided out of the house without giving Klaus a second look, leaving him looking slightly amused.

Ashley, Caroline and Tyler walked into the house. Caroline had a laptop in her hands while Tyler has the sword wrapped in a blanket, Klaus was sitting on the coffee table.

"Well, if it isn't little orphan Lockwood. Come to show how laughably impotent you are against me?"

Tyler shrugged, "I'm just trying to help my friends find the cure."
