Holden bought a couple pieces of Bazooka bubble gum, a small tin with the game Jacks and a newspaper. He already had his paper cup of coffee with him from the diner.
He didn't like coffee much, but don't get me started on that. He didn't even really like to be seen buying the newspaper. He looked like a real phony doing stuff like that. But he wanted to see all the horrible stuff happening in the world.
He'd read the paper while drinking his coffee. Then he'd chew his bubble gum while playing Jacks.
He'd rather play Jacks, anyways.
