Inspiration: J.D. Salinger's Holden Caulfield and Santa

Since it was almost Christmas all the big department stores had visits with Santa. Holden could see him in his big chair from the storefront window. The line of children was about a mile long.
Holden thought about talking to him. What would he say? What did he want? Maybe something for Phoebe. He didn't need anything for himself. It would still be nice to say 'hi.'
Holden wouldn't sit on his lap. That would be weird. He wasn't a pervert.
He waited nervously in line. His turn next.
'Aren't you a little old?' Santa asked.
Holden left feeling lousy.
