My Non-Fairy Tale Ending

Once upon a time

Someone wrote a rhyme

A simple story about a girl

Who wanted a boy to brighten her world

And in this story there was a boy

Who could bring anyone bright joy

They met in a truly awful place

That was full of people with amazing grace

They tended to do whatever they wanted

Some bullied, some cheered, some even hunted

The girl was abandoned by those she loved most

The boy was the one who defeated her ghost

She soon felt more for that one boy

The one who reminded her of great joy

But he turned her down, he left her behind

And there was nothing she could do, no matter how hard she tried

My story is full of disappointment and heart break

It's enough to cause tears, and make your heart ache

Fore the girl was alone, destined to die that way too

Never given the chance to say "I Love You"

Yes the boy moved on, he found someone else

And would only return when she cried for help

She was the girl never given a chance

He was the boy who never gave her a glance

This story was written with no happy ending

Filled to the brim with rules for the bending

But the girl was too afraid, she wouldn't bend them

Not even for the boy who kept her heart with him

To tell you the truth, I'm no longer that girl

She grew up in a much better world

One where every story had a happy ending

One where her tears never stained her bedding

That girl died when her world fell apart

Leaving me with her shattered heart

People say love is a wild thing

But sometimes it's just some stupid fling

I'd hoped all of my dreams would come true

I'd hoped to really belong with you

You may think this poem is made of fake words

Or that it is written by someone not in my world

But I'm not here to tell you some stupid lie

I'm just here so that I can ask you why

Why do people just sit there and watch

While people get beaten like things cheaply bought

I'm here to tell you what I've seen to be true

To help you avoid getting treated like crap too

I have nothing left, except a few friends

And some objects to me last until the end

But before I go on and make these words last forever

I just want you to know, I've given up on happily ever after
