Chapter 3 -
Joe led me around the school, giving me a tour. He explained that it would be best before I got lost or something. I thanked him, and wondered why he was being so nice. However, wherever we went girls’ batted eyelashes at him and giggled, but glared at me because I was with him. It wasn’t so hard to find my way around the school. Finally, he led me into the music block, where there was a special room no one but the band could enter unless invited, we stopped.
“They’re in there. All of them.” He peeked in the window beside the door. He opened the door and tugged me inside. They stopped talking and stared at us in surprise.
“Hey people. This is Taylor Clayton. She has one amazing voice. You gotta listen to her.” he said to them.
“It’s okay, we believe you. Hey, Taylor, I’m Shawn Jensen.” Shawn shook my hand. He had short, spiky blond hair and grey eyes. The rest of the band introduced them to me too. I made a mental note of all of them.
Shawn Jensen: played the drums, blond hair, grey eyes, tall, muscular, on the football team.
Brian Lawson: played the bass guitar, dark hair, blue eyes, tall, skinny.
Aidan Wright: played the backing guitar, dark floppy hair, green eyes, tall, muscular, on the football team.
That was it. I smiled at them all, trying not to let it show how uncomfortable I was feeling with all boys. I wished Molly were here. She’d be drooling over these hot lads, but I just wasn’t interested.
“Our first show is at the Christmas Disco, and then at the Christmas Dance. They’re two different events. Christmas Dance is on Christmas Eve, and mainly couples go. Some other people go, though, so they’re both really great events. We won’t play through it all, but for most of it, we will. They only allow mushy love songs to be played then. The Christmas Disco is earlier, on the seventeenth of December, two days after the holidays start. Half the school go home by then, but it’s still so fun.” Brian explained.
It was the middle of November, so I raised an eyebrow and said we had to work really hard to get perfect. They picked up their instruments and got ready. Joe and I had a microphone in front of us. I grabbed it, but Joe strummed his guitar.
“What song shall we play?” I asked them.
“We haven’t really decided yet…” muttered Shawn, looking down at his drums.
I gasped. “Guys, the Disco is in a month and two days! We gotta get to work.” I paced around the room, thinking of various songs.
“What about ‘Cooler than Me by Mike Posner’, we could sing that? He’s not a good singer, but the song is pretty cool.” I suggested, stopping at my place again.
“Okay…” murmured Aiden reluctantly. I laughed.
“Shall we do ‘Two Is Better than One by Boys like Girls’? It’s featuring Taylor Swift.” I suggested again. “Or we could do a Taylor Swift song, or both.”
“That’s a good idea. You sing Taylor Swift songs best, so that’d be best. Let’s play the basic, and you sing any songs you want to sing for the Disco, Taylor.” Joe nodded at me and we stood in front of our microphones.
I let my mind go blank and the first song I thought of was I’d Lie by Taylor Swift.
“I don't think that passenger seat
Has ever looked this good to me
He tells me about his night
And I count the colours in his eyes
