Chapter 17- Part Two

I searched the slightly crowded reception for Alec, and saw him standing by the staircase, smiling politely at everyone.

He was wearing a black tux, with a red dress shirt. His hair was combed, but in its usual style, and his grin was broader than ever as he spotted me walking towards him. As I passed people, they stopped talking and stared at me.

Me? Well, I was concentrating on not tripping on something, and looking stupid. However, a wider grin was planted on my face than Alec’s, and I screamed “YES!” as I threw my arms round him and hugged him, laughing. Everyone “aww”ed and Alec laughed too, murmuring quiet words in my ear.

After a few minutes, I let go of Alec, but held his hand, standing beside him to face the many curious faces which stared at us.

“What?” I asked them.

“Are you two, like, an item now?” a blonde girl in a miniskirt said, chewing gum, a small smile on her face, as her date kept staring at her like she was a diamond.

Alec and I glanced at each other before rapidly nodding. Immediately, everyone began hooting, laughing and they broke into their separate conversations again.

Alec walked me over to the door, and we strolled outside comfortably, to the room behind the Stage, which was on the other side of the entire school. I pulled my cardigan further round me.

“That was really sweet of you, Alec. That pearl bracelet is so beautiful!” I squealed, acting like a little girl on Christmas morning; except I was a big girl on Christmas Eve.

“Not nearly as beautiful as you look tonight.” he disagreed, his dimples showing as his smile grew.

“Aww, that’s so sweet!” I showed him my wrist. “Look, I’m wearing it now!”

We continued talking for a while, just standing outside the small room, after we’d reached it, and I couldn’t believe I had such an amazing boyfriend. Finally, a clock chimed in the distance, and I knew it was eight o’clock. A group of girls in short dresses walked past, giggling and fluttering their eyelashes at Alec, but his eyes were glued to mine.

I gave him a big hug, and told him I’d see him later. He dawdled off, blowing me a kiss. Once he was out of my sight, I sighed and knocked on the door. Shivering, I remembered the last time I’d been here, and what had happened with Fiona and…Aiden.

I heard shuffling, and a female voice yelling something, with male grunting. The door opened and Fiona stood beaming in the doorway. Behind her, I saw the other boys with their backs to me, looking at the ground, on the opposite side of the room from us.

Fiona was wearing a light blue fairy dress, which hugged her body, a pendant necklace, a blue bracelet, blue heels and blue earrings. Her curled hair was up in an elegant bun, collected with a pretty clasp, with a few short curls escaping to frame her face.

I was surprised, because I hadn’t seen her with her hair back before; it was always hiding her beautiful face. I complimented her and she thanked me, complimenting me too. Then, I stepped inside as Fee closed the door, and took of my cardigan, folding it and putting it on a chair. I faced the boys, who still had their backs to me. They were wearing tuxes, wearing all black. Shawn, Brian, Cody, Joe. They were all here.

“Has Shawn seen you?” I asked Fiona. She shook her head and told me she came here first, and didn’t allow them all to see her.

“Uh, guys? You can turn around now!” she grinned and we dropped our hands by our side. I clutched each side of my dress.
