New Kid

"Have you seen the new kid?" Lisa asks me as I'm walking down the hall.
"Isn't it Cam's new neighbour?" I ask. I remember Cam was talking about his new neighbour and that he was coming to this school, but school started 1 week ago and he still hasn't been here.
"Yeah, look that's him." Lisa points to him. I look over to find a hot, and I mean hot, like not as hot as Noah, but hot, guy, with dark brown hair and brown eyes.
"Whoa." I say staring at him.

I'm sitting at the lunch table waiting for Lee and Rachel when the new kid (still don't know his name) sits down beside Cam.

"Oh yeah, this is Ethan." Cam introduces him.
"Ethan, Elle, Elle, Ethan." Can says when it comes to me, after introducing him to everyone else at the table (except for Lee and Rachel since they aren't here yet).
"Elle, nice to meet you." Ethans puts his hand out for me to shake it, I guess.
"Nice to meet you too." I say awkwardly smiling.

Finally after waiting for every Lee and Rachel show up.

"Finally." I say dramatically.
"Finally." Cam repeats.
"Sorry, I had to talk with the teacher and Rachel was waiting for me." Lee admits as he sits down beside me.
"Talk after school." Lee whispers in my ear and Rachel stares at us like we were telling secrets.

"So Ethan, where are you from?" Lee asks.
"Orlando, Florida." Ethan says.
"Why'd you and your family move here?" Warren asks.
"Oh, um, my dad lost his job because of uh, he uh, got cancer." Ethan bites his lip.
"Oh no." Lisa says.
"Is he okay?" Rachel asks
"I hope he's doing better." I chime in.
"Yeah, he is." Ethan replies to my question.
"Good to hear." I smile.

After talking about everyone else's lives to Ethan mine comes up through Lee.

"Yeah well, my brother Noah, pretty popular last year, he and Elle are dating-"
"Oh Elle you have a boyfriend." Ethan cuts Lee off.
"Uh yeah, Noah, Lee's brother." I smile awkwardly.
"And me and Rachel are dating, me and Elle have been friends since we were born." Lee breaks up the conversation between me and Ethan. I'm very thankful for that.
"Wow, that's a pretty good friendship." Ethan says.
"Yeah, I mean, I was kind of forced for the first 10 years of my life." Lee jokes and winks a me. I just scrunch my nose.
"But I mean, I love her." Lee says tickling me.

Rachel's head looks over to Lee after that and she stares at us for a couple seconds before looking back to her friends. I don't get why Rachel hates our friendship so much.

After school I walk over to Lee's car to meet him so we can talk.
"What's up?" I say getting in.
"We can't hang out tonight." Lee blurts out.
"Oh, why?" I ask.
"Rachel invited me over, for supper, and uh." Lee stops.
"Don't go to far." I giggle, and so does Lee.
"Sorry Shelly, how can I make it up to you?" Lee asks.
"It's fine Lee, she's your girlfriend." I say. I really wish she didn't have to ruin our plans, but I guess she's just more special then me.
"No, tomorrow, 12:00pm, mall, just you and me." Lee says smiling.
"Deal." I say shaking his hand and laughing.
"Deal." Lee repeats.
