"Elle, Lee's here!" My dad yells from downstairs.
"Okay tell him I'll be down in five!" I say applying mascara quickly.

"We're going to be late." Lee says rushing me as I get into his car.
"Sorryyy." I say getting in.
"I was joking, we have to pick up Rachel today." Lee says making it not seem like a big deal, even though it is.
"Wh-what?" I say trying to understand him.
"Elle you can't hide from her forever. She says she's okay with us being friends." Lee says focusing on the road.
"She says it, it doesn't mean she means it. Plus does she say friends or best friends, cause that's a big difference."
"She's okay with it Elle! I promise you. And she may not say best friends but I do." Lee smiles.
"I love you bestie." Lee says looking over to me.

I giggle but look away hoping he won't see me.

"I see that smile." Lee says as he focuses back on the road.
"I love you too." I smile.

"Hey." Rachel says se she kisses Lee.

I just give her an awkward smile.

"So who are you going to the Halloween dance?" Rachel asks me.
"Oh, probably myself." I say awkwardly.
"Oh, sorry, I didn't know things weren't good with you and Noah." Rachel says.

Can she just stop assuming things.

"No, me and Noah are great, I'm not going to ask him to come down just for a silly dance." I say annoyed.
"Oh, yeah I get that." Rachel says smiling.
"So you guys are okay?" Rachel asks.
"Yeah." I say looking out the window.
"That's good." Rachel says in a sweet but annoying tone.
"Mhm." I mumble.

'Hey.' I text Noah during class.
"What's up? It's 10:38 aren't you in class?" Noah's texts back right away.
"Yeah, but I'm bored and wanted to text you."

"Ms Evans?" My teacher says.
"Huh?" I say looking up.
"What is the answer to the question." My teacher points to the board.
"Minus eight." Ethan whispers to me.
"Minus eight." I say.
"Correct." My teacher smiles and points at another question.
"Thank you." I mouth to Ethan.

At lunch we're all talking when Ethan asks. "So who is everyone going to the dance with?"

Everyone says who they're going with when it comes to me.

"Elle? Who are you going with?" Ethan asks.
"Myself." I fake laugh.
"Oh, so you and Noah aren't good." Cam says, not asks, says.
"Nope, we're great. Why does everyone always have to assume we aren't good when I say he's not coming down. Like he's in college, I'm not going to ask him to come down for a day just for dance." I say annoyed.

I just get up and walk away before anyone can say anything. I walk over to my locker and lean against it as I grab my phone to text Noah.

"Elle!" Ethan says jogging down the hall.
"What?" I say unimpressed.
"What happened? You okay?" Ethan asks.
"I'm fine okay." I say looking back down at my phone.
"I'm not going with anyone, we can go together." Ethan says.
"Just as friends, of course." Ethan adds on straight after.
"Ethan it's fine. I might not even go."
"You sure?"
"Yes, I'm sure." I say looking up from my phone and fake smiling.

Later that night me and Noah are on FaceTime when he brings the dance up. "Isn't the Halloween dance this weekend?"
"Yeah."
"Who are you going with?" Noah asks.

Does he really think I'd go with someone other than him.

"Myself." I smile.
"Oh, I'm sorry Elle I would love to come down for it but I'm coming down in three weeks and-"
"Noah I know, that why I didn't ask you." I cut him off.

After talking about other stuff I end up falling asleep on FaceTime with him.
