𝗔𝗮𝗿𝗼𝗻'𝘀 𝗣𝗢𝗩

The rain surprised me in the morning, I don't expect it to rain although it happens sometimes. The room is dark and I just sat on the floor staring into space. I wish the rain would subside soon, but it kept going on for hours. A flashback into that night came, I cried, silently. I look to the front door, someone slides in a notecard. I read it and it was Noisy. I smiled before I even realized it.

I was sitting on the chair swing when she came to me to start a conversation. Whenever she says something, I just listen. She's an interesting person, I even started to talk to her.

A girl runs over to our table, "Aaronnnnn!!! I miss you so much!"
"Krystal, how are you?" Aaron greets her.
She sits down on the chair next to Aaron, "great, do you miss me?"
Aaron coughs, "just eat."
"Krystal, it's been a while since I saw you. What have you been up to?" Aunt Ava asks.
"I'm studying fashion," she looks at Aaron, "so then one day when Aaron becomes the CEO we can work together. I design, he sponsors mine." Krystal smiles.
"I guess that will take a while," Aaron looks at her.
"It's okay, I will wait for you as long as you are with me," she touches his hand.
"You two seem close," I say.
Aaron looks up at me, "we are friends."
"No, won't be soon," Krystal interrupts.
Aaron looks at her, "just focus on eating. Let go of my hand."
"You are always like that, I have always been here for you. You can't miss your chance," Krystal winks at Aaron.
"Just eat," he says.

I somehow seem distracted by their interaction. This Krystal girl seems to like Aaron a lot, romantically. But, why do I feel like she's trying so hard? To get his attention.

We finish our breakfast and I go upstairs to get my bag and head directly to work.

"Noisy," Aaron calls me.
"Hm?"
"Where are you going?" He asks.
"Work," I reply.
"Where?" He comes closer.
"I work at a bakery, feel free to come when you have time. If there's nothing else, I'm going."
"Wait a minute-"
"Aaronnnnn! What are you doing here? Let's go shopping with me," Krystal comes over.
"Bye," I say.
"Who is she?" Krystals asks him.
"Let's go. I'm calling my driver."
"Who is she? You didn't answer my question. You can't just talk to a random girl like that while I'm here. Why are you looking at her like that? Is there something going on between you two. Aaron!" She wines.
Aaron sighs, "Krystal, enough is enough. I don't own you. Know your limit."

✌︎︎

I walk to the bus and wait. Aaron was about to say something earlier but I didn't get to hear it. I can't believe he's the first one starting a conversation. I guess this is what it feels like to be excited, but no way there will be something between us. He has Krystal.

"Luna, you don't forget the baking lessons for Mia right?" Ian asks me.
"Of course not, the ingredients are already prepared. I think Mia will love the lesson." I smile.
"She will definitely love it," he adds on.
"By the way, do your parents mind us visiting?" Ian looks concerned.
"I'm adopted. I only have a mom." I look at him.
"Luna, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that."
"No no, it's okay. It's because I didn't get to tell you. But don't worry, she won't mind."
"Do you have any other siblings?" He asked.
"No, for my current family. But, I do have one in the past. My younger brother."
"Where is he? Isn't he supposed to be in the orphanage with you before you were adopted?"
"We had an accident, I'm the only one that survived," I look down on the floor.
"It must be so hard for you. I think your parents and brother are proud of you, you held in until now." He smiles.
"If they are here, I want them to taste the bread that I make. Um...but they only see me making it. From the top."
I continue, "Ian, although your parents are not with you, they are alive. You can see them if you want to. For me, I wish I could see mine again, even if it's in my dreams."
"Your parents will always be with you. Watching you." He smiles.
"Hey, you must love to smile a lot. I like that." I laugh.
"Does it make your day?" He leaned over.
"Well...it's beautiful. You better keep that smile and don't lose it," I changed the topic.
"For you," he arranged the bread.
"Smile for yourself, not because of me."
"No Luna, actually, in my opinion... I need a reason to smile. That's the only way to keep me going."
"Then, what if I tell you to stop smiling? Would you do it for me?" I ask.
"I doubt you will ask that. But if you do, I need to reconsider what I think of you," he walks away.
"Hm? What do you mean?"
He turns around, "silly, I think you need to know me more...anyways I'm going to the back. Watch the cashier for me. Thanks."

✌︎︎

We both get off work and meet Mia at the bus stop.

"Luna, I can't believe I'm going to your place. We are getting closer, step by step," Mia jumps excitedly.
"Oh yeah, I think you two will stay when the sunset comes. Stay for dinner before leaving," I say.
"No it's fine, we will take care of that," Ian states.
"No no, stay for dinner. You won't regret the food, it's good." I remarked.
"Okay, we will stay," Mia says.

We get on the bus and head to my home. We got off the bus and walked into the neighborhood.

✌︎︎

"About 2 more minutes, we will be there. My home is on the right," I say as we are walking.
"Woah...you have a nice neighborhood," Mia looks around.
"I think I came around here before when I was young," Ian says.
"When you were young? Do you know someone from here?"
Ian looks at me, "my parents...did something unforgivable here."
It takes me for a moment to think before I realize what he means, "Oh- that? Here?"
"Yeah, they killed someone."

When Ian says that, I don't know what to reply to. I think it would be better if I don't say anything about it, I don't have the right.

✌︎︎

We arrive at the gate.

"Luna, this place? Your house?" Ian looks shocked.
"Yeah let's go in."
"Sorry, I don't think I can go in. Mia, let's go."
"Why? What's wrong?" I sound confused.
"Luna, I'm sorry but I don't think we can teach Mia here."

As when Ian grabs Mia's hand to go, a car pulls up. Aaron gets out of the car.

Aaron sees Ian, "you?"
"I didn't expect for us to meet again," Ian says.
"What are you doing here? HOW DARE YOU COME HERE?" Aaron raises his voice at Ian.
"Aaron, what's up with you? This is Ian, he's my friend," I come over.
"Friend? Noisy, with someone like him?"
"What's wrong about him? Are you going to say we don't welcome strangers again? That's too old." I say.
"What do you even know to say that? I guess he hasn't told you yet," Aaron looks at Ian, "what a coward."
"Hey! Aaron! That's enough. You can't just say things like that to Ian. He's my friend."
"Friend? Then why don't you ask this friend of yours what happened."
I look at Ian, "Ian, is there something I'm missing out?"
"Luna, I-..." he pauses, "the thing...is that my parents-"
"They killed my father," Aaron interrupts. "Now you know, stop taking his side," Aaron walks into the house.
"Luna, I'm sorry," Ian apologies.
"Ian, this is your life and you can decide whether to or not tell this to anyone. You don't have to say sorry. It's not your fault of what happened. Looks like we have to push back the baking lesson to next time, I'm sorry Mia."
"No no, it's okay. That guy must be so mad at us, especially you. Is he gonna yell at you later when you go in?" Mia cries.
"You two head home, I will be alright," I assure her.
"Luna, I'm sorry for what happened," Ian says and leaves with Mia.

✌︎︎

I walk into the house and see Aaron standing near the door.

"Noisy, how do you know him?" Aaron asks.
I stop, "from work, Ian is my friend."
"Friend? Are you sure?"
"Why? I can't be friends with him?"
"No...it's just you are friends with the wrong person." Aaron comes closer.
"Aaron, you know that it's not Ian's fault. Why do you treat him as if he's the culprit?"
"You know what's a pity of Ian...is his connection to his parents. Because his parents are bad which also makes other people think that he's bad. People don't care about the truth, they just want to hear what they want and call it a day. That goes the same to that friend of yours. No matter how good he is, in the end, people will always remember him as the criminal son."
"That's why he's trying...Ian is trying. Aaron, I know you are at the age to know about this. Ian is trying to become someone different, he's trying and he still is. He did nothing wrong but always got people to turn his back on him. I don't want to be that friend to him, I want to take his side."
"Noisy, do you like him? Is that why? I feel like you are using the friend relationship as an excuse."
"Whether I like him or not does not have anything to do with you," I walk away.
He grabs my hand, "don't be like that. Do you hate me?"
I look at him into the eyes, "no, there's no reason to."
"Even when I act rudely to you?"
"You have your reasons, it's your life, you can decide what to do with it."
"Okay, you say it's my life and I can decide what to do with it. Then listen up, don't like Ian."
"Huh? What?"
"I say, don't like Ian," he repeats.
"Why? Just...why?" I look at him.
"Because... I will like you from now on."
