Callie reached over and grabbed her phone turning the alarm off. It was almost nine the next morning and she wanted to make sure she was up and dressed before Samantha and Madison showed up. They were getting in late this morning and Jessica would finally join everyone in the middle of the afternoon. Callie was sure that was also something else Madison had planned on purpose. She could get a little bit of time with DJ before Jessica arrived.
Callie opened the few missed texts she had received while she was sleeping. One was from Jessica asking her how she liked the suite, the next one was from Madison letting her know they had made it through security and so far were still on time. The last one was from a number she didn’t recognize until she read the message.
Good morning! I hope you enjoy your day with the girls. I got your number from Madison I hope that’s ok. Maybe I will see you later...
There was only one person that could be from. She stored the number in her phone and texted him back thanking him for the message and remembering that he was practicing at some point today she wished him well there too.
What was she getting herself into? She had left California once over a man she would damned if she was returning to California because of a new one. She wasn’t falling back into that again. She slipped out of bed grabbing the notepad and pen that were sitting by the phone in the room. As she crawled back into bed she started making her list of pros and cons to moving back.
Of course on the pro side was the fact she would be back near her family, her close friends, and the life she was used to. On the cons side were the obvious reasons, Liam and everyone that knew about her and Liam. She tossed the notepad and pen onto the other side of the bed and fell back against the pillow. She was doing it again. She was letting him win.
Sighing she got out of bed grabbing her phone as she headed toward the bathroom. She needed to get ready and stop dwelling on this. She had a girls weekend to enjoy after all. She turned on the hot water in the shower and grabbed her toothbrush. She put a strip of toothpaste on it and brushed her teeth while staring at herself in the mirror. Her ringing phone broke her out of her thoughts.
She quickly spit out the toothpaste and answered the phone not looking at the caller ID just before it went to voicemail.
“Hello?”
“Hey it’s Blake,”
“What’s up?” Callie asked wiping the left over toothpaste off her lips.
“We’re still practicing, but DJ and I are going to get Madison and Samantha from the airport soon and I wanted to see if you wanted to come too. We can all go get lunch,” Blake explained.
Callie could hear the squeaking of tennis shoes against the hardwood floor and the guys yelling things at each other through the phone.
“Are you on the court talking to me?” Callie laughed.
