Buzzing with the chatterings and clamorings of different people crowding the street, with merchants and people gathering around for the purchase and sale of different commodities, goods, provisions, and livestock, the marketplace of the Capital was booming with livelihood and liveliness at its every corner.
At most, that was what Lena was expecting.
Unfortunately, as they pass through the gates of the Lyinth - the Capital, the Royal City, there was a still quietness that traveled through the air.
The bright summer sun was still up with its warm air blowing around, but the surroundings of the Capital, surprisingly seemed to be caught up in the winter season with its chilly and biting cold air.
The marketplace ahead, although there were people that could be seen, the numbers of them were very few. Some of the stalls were even closed and only the very quiet whisperings of the few people could be heard.
Lena frowned.
Turning her head towards Anjo, who was also frowning, she asked, "Why is it like this? Could there be something wrong?"
Anjo looked around, he noticed the appearance of the sheriffs from every corner of the market street.
A cold shiver ran down from his back.
Could it be?
Lena saw the sudden panic in Anjo's eyes.
"Are we in trouble?" she asked.
"No, not particularly, it's just that -"
Before Anjo could even finish his sentence, all of a sudden, hoofbeats sounded loudly against the stone pavement of the street.
A dozen of fast speed horses entered the huge and wide city gate.
The Official carriage where Anjo and Lena were in, was currently along the road, but when the coachman saw the approaching wild and strong horses, he kept on sweating as he quickly stirred the carriage to the side of the road, making way for the approaching horses.
Lena was thrown off her seat when the carriage was suddenly stirred. She was caught off guard and her behind had crashed against the flooring of the carriage.
"Damn!" she loudly hissed, her rosy lips slightly twitched in pain.
The group of sturdy horses ridden with black-clothed men went past the carriage, but the one who seemed to lead them suddenly halted its horse and looked around.
Anjo was startled. Lena cursed just now and it was not entirely spoken with her usual gentle voice.
But the thing was, it seemed that it went through from the carriage towards the street and the pack of black-clothed riders was just passing by at them when it happened.
Worst, Anjo knew who the person leading them. He shuddered and sweated profusely right away. He immediately closed down the curtain of the carriage windows and chant a spell so quick under his breath, while Lena was gently rubbing her behind and still had no idea what a fearful thing she had just done.
The man in azure Royal robe scanned his surroundings. A black mask, covering half of his face from the forehead down to his nose, was dangerously glinting on his face as the rays of the bright sun poured down upon it.
Strange.
I thought I heard a familiar voice.
A very unusual frown appeared on the man's indifferent and cold face, but thanks to the mask covering half of his face, the very unusual frown couldn't be seen by anyone.
