LUKE. They knew where Luke was. I couldn't be happier and all the way more excited. Could we try to bring him back if we ever found him?
I didn't care. I wanted Luke back. My Luke...and no one's going to stop me from doing so.
All I wanted was to see him again, to wrap my arms around his lanky body and tell him that everything's alright - that I'd never leave him.
I'd never leave him. But he left me. No, he was taken away from me by those anonymous men who were entrusted by the so-called government.
Joy had signed the papers as proof that the Hood family had the rights on us both; that after Liz's death, we're now the responsibility of the Hoods.
Why would they take Luke away?
Calum and I sat in the back patio, waiting for Ashton. He'd gone out and demanded us to not go anywhere as he'd be back in a few.
"I hope Ash and I are right...because we might be wrong and I don't want you getting your hopes up too high." Calum said, fiddling with his hands as he sat on the opposite bench.
I looked down, nodding. Luke was clouding my mind and I didn't want to pressure myself. Just relax, take a deep breath.
If Luke were to be at this place where we're headed, then there's nothing for me to worry about. He's not going anywhere, right?
"I just hope he's alright...and not hurt or something." I threw my sight towards the backyard, calming myself down before I started to break down.
I had to at least be strong for once. For Luke, and all these people who're helping me.
"Hey..." he cooed, sitting right beside me in a flash. "We're going to find out about that today, okay? There's a big chance we're seeing him again. Today! Don't think that way."
I looked up, giving him a warm smile and he broke into a huge grin that somehow made me want to squish his face.
"There's that smile." He casually intertwined our fingers in his lap, both of us staring at them in silence.
"Calum."
"Hmm?" He looked up, catching my eyes and I could feel his thumb rubbing the side of my hand softly.
I cleared my throat, "What are we?"
Calum chuckled, leaning in and pressing a soft kiss on my rather chapped lips. A short one, but enough to cause the butterflies in my stomach to erupt into a massive feeling of happiness.
"Anything that we want to be." He said, almost as a whisper while his breath tingled my skin.
His thumb continued to rub back and forth on the side of my hand while we fell into another silent trance.
I'd always wondered about his dad. Did he have one? I had never seen him around and I would like to know about his existence.
"Is your dad always working?" I braced myself to ask.
Calum looked up for a second before turning to me, "He's got a tough job. You know, soldier kind of thing."
"He's in the military? Will he be back for Christmas?"
Poor Calum and Mali and Joy. They could rarely see the head of their family. And I felt so sorry for Joy for having to work double the time to care for her small family.
Mali's university expenses and Calum's school fees.
And Luke and I, too.
Had I been troubling her? I really didn't want to be a burden to anyone.
