* Catherine continued *

'Crispy it is' Jesse chuckled as he pulled a frying pan out of the cupboard and placed it on the stove top.

I watched on as he placed a few slices of bacon in the pan and then cracked a few eggs to go along side it.

'I'm sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt' I said quietly as I studied the green eyed boys reaction.

I didn't believe anything that came out of the blonde bitch's mouth, but that annoying little nagging voice in the back of mind just couldn't keep her damn mouth shut.

'Princess, you didn't interrupt a thing' he smiled over at me before returning his focus back to the frypan.

The genuineness of his smile seemed to keep the that nagging little voice at bay, at least for now.

Jesse and I enjoyed a comfortable breakfast, we chatted about everything and nothing at the same time. Jesse didn't mention anything that we had spoken about earlier, nor did he bring up anything from last nights party, for which I was grateful.

'Morning Cate, isn't this a lovely surprise' Jesse's mum interrupted as she walked into the kitchen.

'Morning' I smiled, unsure as to whether she would have an issue with me sitting at her kitchen table with her son who was only half dressed and me wearing last nights makeup and his clothes.

If she did have a problem she didn't let on as she quickly made herself a cup of coffee and took a seat beside me.

'My god, my son has cooked breakfast, have I died and gone to heaven' she cried playfully as she placed her hand to her forehead in dramatic fashion.

'Jeez mum, I'm not that bad' Jesse grumbled as he rolled his eyes.

'See Cate, I knew you were special' she whispered to me as a smirk tugged at her lips.

I glanced over to see Jesse shot me a questioning look as I tried to stop my cheeks from reddening any further from embarrassment.

'So lovebirds, what are your plans for today?' Jesse's mum asked casually as she reached over and stole a piece of bacon from Jesse's plate.

'Seriously mum' he groaned.

Hearing the L word caused me to stiffen instantly, although I knew his mum was just messing around I couldn't control the tight little ball of anxiety that started to build in the pit of my stomach.

'Umm, nothing exciting really' I replied nervously, hearing how strained my voice sounded I quickly glanced over at Jesse to find his green eyes shooting me a concerned look.

'Actually I have a lot of housework to do and homework to catch up on. So.. uhh.. I probably should head home' I continued on as I picked up my empty plate and took it to the sink without giving Jesse another glance.

I turned to make my way down the hall, stopping briefly to thank Jesse for breakfast and say a quick goodbye to his mum before I practically ran towards his bedroom in search of my things.

As I was rummaging hurriedly around the floor searching for my dress and purse I was stopped by a firm arm on my shoulder.

'Catherine' Jesse sighed.

'What?' I shot back not willing to meet his gaze.

'You need to stop running away when things get too hard' he replied 'especially from me' he added, Jesse didn't even bother to try and hide the hurt that laced his words.

Once again I tried to take the cowards way out, knowing that I was the reason Jesse was hurting I couldn't bring myself to face him, to face the issue that was so clear in front of me it was practically spelled out in flashing neon lights. Instead I hoped that if I just refused to acknowledge him he would get fed up or pissed off or both and just leave.
