[ Chapter Three: The Dyed Job ]
AGE: 14
I STARED AT HIM WITH WIDE EYES, wondering if he was being serious or not. I looked at the box in his hand before glancing at his brown hair. I stayed silent, just staring at him for a couple of seconds before he broke the silence.
"So, please, can you do it?" Jeremiah asked me hopefully, his eyes widening as a nervous smile appeared across his lips
"Why can't we do it at yours?" I asked Jeremiah quietly as I leaned against the wall, hearing the familiar song of Arabian Nights being played in the Moscovitz's living room
"Because my mom won't allow me, Mary," Jeremiah answered me in a flat tone making me sigh and nod my head
"Thanks so much, Mary. I swear you won't regret it." Jeremiah told me with a wide smile causing me to smile back at him
"Hopefully I won't," I muttered the words quietly to myself before grabbing the box from his hands
"I was hoping you'd say yes so I brought all the materials over," Jeremiah said as he pointed to his blue duffle bag that was on the floor
"You have such confidence in me, don't you?" I asked him with a small smile as I lifted the duffle bag onto the sink
"I always do, Mary. I don't trust anyone else except you to do this job. Mia would be too nervous, Lilly would have too much fun and mess it up probably and Michael would try but get nervous along the way." Jeremiah explained to me his reasonings making me smirk at the mention of Mia and our best friends
"I cross my heart that I won't mess up Jer," I promised him causing him to smile and I couldn't help but smile back at him once more

"What in the world are you two doing?" A familiar voice asked causing me to look up to see Mia by the bathroom doorway
"Nothing. Why? What's happening?" I questioned my twin sister, ignoring the obvious sight in front of me
"Well, it looks like you're dying Jeremiah's hair. In a house that doesn't belong to either of you." Mia reminded us as she shook her head at the both of us
"I promise, nothing bad is going to happen, sister," I promised my twin who raised her eyebrow as Jeremiah moved a bit
"You better because this isn't our house!" Mia quietly exclaimed to both of us making me sigh and let my hands go off Jeremiah's hair
"We practically live here Mia," Jeremiah told her as he turned his head to face her causing her eyes to widen we she saw her face
"Oh my god, you put vaseline on his face right?" Mia asked as she snapped her head up to focus on me
"Of course I did. This isn't my first rodeo." I replied back to her and this time both Jeremiah and Mia looked at me
"This is your first rodeo, Mary." Mia reminded me slowly and I shook my head, crossing my arms but I made sure that the gloves didn't touch me
"He didn't know that Mia. Now you just ruined the chances of me getting more cash." I grunted to her with a glare and she sighed deeply
"Mary, I know this is your first rodeo. I know everything about you--you and our best friends of course. Anyways, you weren't even going to get paid." Jeremiah said to me and I slapped him in the back of his head gently
*Royal Moments*
"What are you two doing?" Michael asked both of us once he stepped a foot inside the bathroom
"Well, if everyone must know, I am dying Jeremiah's hair red," I informed my dark-haired best friend
"I know that but why? Did he lose a bet?" Michael asked and I smirked at him before continuing to let the water run through Jeremiah's hair
"I'm not sure, he just told me when he arrived and brought me to the bathroom. No, he didn't, or at least, I don't think he lost a bet." I told him with a frown as he walked in much closer to look at my job
"It looks nice, but the question remains, will he love it, Mary?" Michael asked as he offered me a black towel
"I really hope so." I quietly answered him before turning off the faucet and offered Jeremiah the towel
*Royal Moments*
"Why is there a crime scene in my bathroom? Did you guys kill someone?" Lilly questioned both Jeremiah and me with her eyes wide
"We didn't kill anyone. Well, technically speaking, we killed Jeremiah's brown hair." I informed Lilly as Jeremiah undid his towel to reveal the outcome to her
"Wow, but why did you do it at my house?" Lilly asked us both but her eyes lingered on Jeremiah's hair as she crossed her arms
"We knew you would love a crime scene." Jeremiah offered to her weakly before he turned to face the mirror
"His mom said he couldn't do it and he decided to be a rebel anyway," I explained to Lilly who nodded her head
"You guys better hope the paint will come out later," Lilly warned us both before she walked away from the doorway
"I think they all took it well, Jeremiah," I told the now red-haired boy as he started to clean his forehead
"You say that now until my mom grounds me and your moms grounds the three of you for not stopping me and you might get more in trouble for dying it. Besides that, I love the hair. Thanks." Jeremiah thanked me but his words caused my eyes to widen in shock
