[ Chapter Eight: The Scholar's Dilemna ]

AGE: 15

EVERYONE WAS SILENT, in shock at what had just played out a few seconds earlier. I breathed heavily as I was held against Ms. Harbula's chest and I glared at the blonde girl in front of me, and she was being held against Mr. O'Connell. I could see her smirking at me making my cheeks flush and once more, I was about to lunge out of the arms of my teacher and head towards her, but Ms. Harbula was strong.

"Come on, Mary. I have to take you to see Ms. Gupta." Ms. Harbula said to me quietly as the crowd around us began to separate a bit

"But, let me slap her one more time. Please." I pleaded with the woman but she ignored me, dragging me away from the scene of the crime

"No can't do miss." Ms. Harbula said making me pout but I didn't try to do anything except lay limply in her arms

"Take me away to court then." I told her and from where I had my had against her chest, I could see her shaking her head at my words

"You're not going to court, just to the principle's office." Ms. Harbula clarified as if I didn't know what she meant

"I know, I know, but it's practically the same thing." I quietly said to her, closing my eyes, continuing to lay limply in her arms

"Mary, this is your third warning, this month. We have warned you so many times beforehand and you have continously ignored this." Ms. Gupta reminded me softly from where she sat behind her door

"I know but she started it, really, Ms. Gupta. She kept name calling Mia and kept making fun of her." I did my best to try to explain to her but she wasn't listening to me

"No, Miss Thermopolis, I am speaking right now. As I was saying, this is your third warning and we have warned you many times before but this was the final straw. We do not deal with violence in this school. I'm afraid to inform you that we no choice but to revoke the art scholarship that we have offered you for the upcoming year." Ms. Gupta tried to reason with me making me frown at her words

"Revoke? Revoke? Come on, Ms. Gupta, I was just defending my sister!" I snapped at the woman in front of me angrily

"And I get that, I really do but we don't condone voilence here. As I said before, we have no choice to revoke it." Ms. Gupta repeated herself and I nodded my head at her words with a firm smile on my face
