Chapter 9: The Lone Frog in the Marine

P.O.V. _ Liam

        Liam was lost, he didn't know what to do. Asa was missing and he didn't known where she was. He wanted to go after her but decided not to. Asa was a freaked Spy, the best at that, she always got herself in trouble but she always got herself out of it. All he need to do was wait for the ship to be done but until then what should he do.

He decided to remain in Mellow Restaurant, for some time. The other chefs were nice and would come to cheer him up about his kidnapped sister. They would give him his space and even give him gifts. Liam didn't mind he knew that Asa was ok, but he worried more about the poor pirates that kidnapped her. Asa wasn't someone to mess with but who ever took her would learn that the hard way. 

Memo spended a lot of time with him. Liam could only guess that the boy felt bad for him. Liam took the time to teach the boy, some tips on cooking. Memo was a smart boy and caught on really fast. The people that came to the restaurant, would enjoy his cooking even more. They would even ask him for receipts for his food, Liam gave some away but not all. His receipt were his life work and he isn't going to let that get away.

2 months later............

          Two months had passed since he last saw Asa. He didn't get a mail not that he expected Asa to send a bird with a letter. If he could in some way do something to help his crew but what. Not far from the town were he was staying there was a Marine Headquarters. Asa never went there, she would always go for the Headquarters fathered away.  Maybe this was his chance to be useful for once other then just preparing food. Liam wanted to get stronger and the Marine base was close enough. He would train and gather information about them. Information gathering was Asa job and expertise but that didn't mean he couldn't do it. He seen Asa in action more then could count and mostly cuz Asa always keeped him around.

       The very next morning, he gathered his belongings, sayed his farewells to the chefs at Mellow Restaurant and headed towards the Marine Base.

The Marine Base wasn't that far so he made it just in time before lunch.

    "Excuse me, is this were I could enlist within the Marines"

"Yes how could I help you" replied the women. "Am Shira, your just in luck, we are in need of new recruits so why don't you fill in your information and we will get back to you"

     Shira handed Liam a few papers and a pen. Paper work, was just Liam need to make this day worst. He filled in the paper best as he could, he used a fake name of course. He handed back the papers to Shira and waited.

     Liam must have waited for a long time, Liam didn't know for how long he waited cuz he had long had lost count.

    "Seems that everything is in order, the second step is a interview, if it goes well  then your in the marines as a newbie.

   "Sure, lead the way"

    Shira took Liam to a big room where marine captains were located. They must be the ones that does the interview for new recruits. Liam took a step in front of them and waited.

    "So your name is Lucas, right" replied the first captain.

   "Yes sir, am Lucas"

"Do you have experience in the Marines before, do you have the quality that are need to be part of the Marine?" Replied the second captain.

     "No sir, am a traveler and I had my fare of fights with pirates."

   "What made you want to join the marines then, we marines face dangerous pirates all the time and we also lose many men, so what the reason why a mare traveler would what to join the marines"

   "Sir my sister was kidnapped by pirates sir, I want to be able to rescue her, sir"

    "So your sister was kidnapped, then. A man who does it to save a family member, are nothing but fools. But it seems to me that your a strong boy that is going places" replied the second captain. "Do you have any experience in any thing, Lucas?"

    "I know martial arts and how to cook, I used to work at Mellow Restaurant, as a chef there before my sister was kidnapped, two months ago"

   "Two months, that a long time. But I see your reason, when a person steps into a pirate ship, they are long gone. I guess you must have waited to have news of her and since your here you must have received none."

   "Yes sir" responded Liam. Lying sure was hard. Liam had no idea how Asa didn't all the time. It took all his efforts to play, the poor cook boy whose sister was taken. But either less, Liam had to pull through it.

   "I know a fine marines when I see one and like I said earlier, your a boy that is going places" replied the second captain. "Welcome to the Marines, Lucas"

   "Thank you so much, sir will do my best" replied Liam shaking both the hands of the captains.

    "You will start tomorrow, don't fail us boy" replied the first captain.

    And with that, Liam was in the Marines. He was sure was glad that the interview was over. He made it in the Marines, if he used his time wisely he could be a even stronger. Liam life in the Marines had just begun.
