Chapter Twenty Two

"Hey Mom! Hey Dad!" I called.

"Hey honey! How's your birthday so far?" they asked me.

"Pretty good," I paused in thought, "great, actually. Really great."

"We're glad to hear it! Did you see our gift?"

"I did. I love it. I really do. Thank you." I was about to tear up now.

"You are so very welcome sweetie, we love you so much."

"I love you both too, so very much."

There was a moment of silence.

"Oh! By the way! Here's your phone!" they handed me my long lost iPhone.

"You found it?!" I thought.

"No, we had it."

My jaw dropped.

"It's a long story..."

Turns out; one night, my parents stole my phone. It was all for the surprise birthday party. Kaitlyn asked them to do so in order to know who to invite and how to contact them. Pretty smart plan, I must say.

After eating, and the cake, it was time to open my gifts. Lidewij wasn't here anymore and gave me my present already, she had a flight to catch.

From my family, I mostly got money. Kaitlyn gave me this whole very cute outfit, that I probably wouldn't be able to pull off. From Matt I received three T-shirts with smart sayings on them, in which I pull off almost everyday. Isaac gifted me with a card he made himself; he wrote it and everything. With the fact that he's blind - it was very messy - but it was cute (and contained a $30 gift card). Lastly, Nicholas got me this very pretty necklace with the customization of a 'H', 'G', and 'L'.

I loved them all.

"Thanks guys, you've made this my greatest birthday yet."

"You deserve it, birthday girl!" Isaac exclaimed.

I laughed, and so did everyone else.

The rest of the party consisted of love and laughter. We also played a bunch of party games.

Everybody left at about 8 PM.

After the party, I thanked my parents once again, then freshened up, brushed my teeth, and got ready to go to bed.

Before I went to sleep, I texted Kaitlyn:

Thanks Kaitlyn. For everything. That's 'ought to be my best birthday celebration yet, all because of you. My amazing friend.

When I was right at the verge of being sound asleep, Kaitlyn replied:

Anything for you! I'm so glad you enjoyed!

For a teenage girl about to die; I was a pretty lucky person.
