Austin POV:
I was sitting next to Cecily in Calculus class, purely thinking of her. I know it's only been a week since I met her, but I really like her. She's different from other girls, she's kind, funny, she doesn't try to slut it up to get with me like most girls. Most girls just want to have sex with me. Despite my bad boy facade I'm not a bad person, beside from being a gang leader, I'm a nice guy, smart, and I just want to date, I don't want to have sex, I just want to meet someone that likes me for me.Like I said earlier I'm a gang leader, technically my father is but I'm the heir, we run the most powerful gang in the United States, the Blades.
And she was a Mariano. Mariano, the most powerful mafia in the entire world, they have the power to wipe people off the face of the planet and make sure no one notices. So it was quite a shock to learn Cecily was the daughter of the head of the mafia, she's so innocent. The more I thought about it the more I believe that she doesn't know what her father does. It's not uncommon to not tell mafia and gang children until they are older.
I really wanted to ask her out, but it's more complicated than it seems, if my gang or rival gangs found out I had a relationship with Lorenzo Mariano's daughter I would be good as dead. I would be seen as a traitor, the italian mafia wasn't a total enemy, but it was the enemy of our ally. Our gang has a alliance with the Russian mafia, and I would be killed if they found out I pledged loyalty to another.
Soon enough the lesson was over, and I was brought out of my thoughts by the bell. I didn't pay attention to anything but Cecily in that class. Since it was the last period of the day, it was time for football practice.....with Ceci's brothers: Kade, Alex, and Liam. I walked with her until Liam pulled her away when we met up at their locker. On our way we talked about nothing in particular, I was just looking into her beautiful eyes.
~Time Skip : 20 minutes later~
I was on the field at practice, I was trying my hardest, for I knew Ceci was watching us on the bleachers. We were getting water, and I was staring at her when I noticed something. A small red dot. It could only mean one thing.Sniper.
I ran as fast as I could up the bleachers to where Ceci was sitting and as I got in arms reach I pushed her down, out of the way. Seconds later gunshots echoed around the small stadium.
Everything went blank for a second, next thing I know, I'm on top of Cecily, my teammates and the cheerleaders, also practicing on the field, are screaming, and her brothers are running up the bleachers.
"CIS!" Liam yelled.
I slowly got off of her, simultaneously checking for bullet wounds. Thankfully there were none. Soon enough, the lockdown bell rang.
Liam, Alex, and Kade ran to their sister. I took a step back to let the have some space. "Ceci! Are you okay! Are you hit!"
She shook her head. "Guys there's a active shooter on campus, we really need to go and hide." I told them. They looked over to me, and seemed shocked although they saw me get up.
"Come on, we can hide in the locker room." Alex spoke. "Liam, cover Cis." We started to run.
Kade and Alex ran in front of us, undoubtedly looking around for the shooter. "Do you have your weapon on you?" Alex asked Kade thinking that it was only loud enough for them to hear, although I was close enough to hear it too.
We eventually made it into the empty locker room, and we barricaded the door. Kade ran to his bag and grabbed something I recognize as a gun and put it in his belt, concealed by his shirt. Liam was distracting Ceci. My guess is they are trying to hide the mafia from her. I went to my bag and grabbed my gun too and concealed it in my belt.
"What happened just then?" Liam whispered angrily, although they all knew the answer. He was actively trying to calm Ceci down, who looked to be having a panic attack. I wanted to help her, but I didn't to make her uncomfortable.
Kade pulled me to the side, and said something I never expected. "Thank you."
"What?"
"Thank you. For saving my sister." He began. "But don't think I don't know who you are. Stay the hell away from her, I'm grateful for what you did, really, but don't even think about doing anything with her. I don't like the fact that you two are friends, you know what I'm capable of, so don't disobey me." He said walking off.
Well that was harsh, and ya no I'm not listening. I would never want to put her in danger, but I like her to much to stay away.
We spent the next twenty minutes hiding until the lockdown bell sounded, saying the shooter got away.
Unknown POV:
My assassination attempt of the youngest Mariano failed. How are my men so incompetent, I was going over the footage to see exactly what went wrong when I recognized a familiar face. Austin Spade. He saved the Mariano girl. I watched more of the footage from all of the school, and saw them walking to class, to their lockers. If I didn't know any better I would say little Austin has a crush. I guess I'm going to have to talk with his father. He must prove his loyalty to me once again. And if he fails, then I guess he has to die.
