Austin POV:
I fluttered my eyes open.

God it feels like I was hit by a bus.

I looked around and saw I was in my bed. Wires were connected to me and i had a IV in.

I looked to my left and saw a sleeping Cecily, still holding my hand.

What happened?

Then I remembered. The shooting. I frantically looked at Cecily for injury but she appeared to be fine.

Thank god.

She started to stir awake and I just looked at her and smiled.

Once she registered me smiling back at her, she looked shocked.

"Austin?!" Her voice cracked. "You're awake?" Tears fell from her face.

Not the tears please, seeing her cry is like a knife through my heart.

"What happened?" Her face softened.

She gulped. "After the-the shooting, you um—" she paused for a second. "Fell into a coma."

Oh my god.

Thousands of thoughts clouded my vision.

"How long?" I asked.

She sobbed harder as more tears fell. I tried to adjust in the hospital bed so I could be upright to wipe the tears off her face. Which is exactly what I did, although it hurt a lot.

I put my hand on her cheek and used my thumb to wipe her tears away. "Cecily how long?"

"Almost a m-m-month." She squeezed her eyes shut.

A whole month I'd been asleep?

"I haven't heard your voice or seen your eyes in a little less than a month." She sobbed.

"Hey hey, please don't cry." I had tears in my eyes now. How could I have left her alone for a month. "Please don't cry. I hate it when you cry. It's okay I'm here now." I motioned for her to come up on the bed with me. "Come here." I held her in my embrace. "I'm so sorry for leaving you my love."

"Promise me you won't do it again." She sobbed as I held her.

"I promise." We sat like this for a minute, me holding her with such love and care like I've never held anyone before. That's when I noticed it. "You're wearing the ring." I smiled.

"I never took it off. And I never planned to."

I smiled harder. "So is that a yes?"

"I already told you it's a yes. It was always a yes."
