At 3, my parents left with my brothers after mom had a few words with me. You know, the usual. “Do not keep your lunch waiting and do not stay out too late and lock the door if you're going over to Eva's house or anyone's as a matter fact and drop a message when you do so. I want my kitchen to look tidy as ever if you're going to use it and please don't burn the house while you're at it. No going anywhere out of this neighbourhood and the last most important thing. NO PARTIES!”, my mom stated clearly before hopping into the car.
“Now for some fun time", I smirked as I watched while my dad's Pajero pulled out of the driveway. I hustled to my room and brought down four speakers from which loud music blasted through. The very first one was ‘Freaking Me Out' by Ava Max.
“Liz, my darrr~ling, remember staying at home was like a punishment in your childhood but now it's like a blessing~?”, I told myself courteously. I changed my tone and replied, “AW HELL YAH! NOW THIS IS HOW YOU TEACH YOUR NEIGHBOURS WHAT GOOD MUSIC IS--"
There was a knock on the door. “Huh? It's not even 3:15... Who could it be", I muttered, creeping towards the door and opening it cautiously.
There stood five of my neighbourhood cousin friends. “H-h-hey Liz!”, Eva waved at me shyly. She was a pretty blondie who was fair. I waved back. “You didn't join us yesterday!”, Rowan snapped in an accusatory tone. Another fair guy with messy chocolate hair and dark eyes. “Yeah, thanks for the reminder", I smiled at him sarcastically as the girls shot a glare his way for talking to me like that.
Shimmer, a dark tall girl with dangling earrings, opened her mouth, but then closed it. Bella, a short sweet girl with emerald eyes, avoided my gaze shyly. Whereas, Lucas, a tall fair boy with electric blue eyes, yawned. They were all my age. Fourteen. I chuckled at them.
“Come on in", I welcomed them. “Do we get brownies?”, Lucas asked instantaneously, scooting over. “Of course. You can keep dreaming of devouring them", I smirked at him as all the others entered and plumped themselves into the comfy sofa, relaxing. I sat across them on the bean bag. “So...What's your reason for dumping your childhood friends yesterday?”, Lucas demanded, holding his hand near his chest, pretending to be hurt. I poured them each iced coffee from the iced coffee carton and gave them.
“Lucas! Would you shut up?”, Shimmer snapped at him. He stuck his tongue out at her, indignantly. “Erm...Liz, err--", she looked at Bella for help.
“Guys, I’m sorry I couldn't make it yesterday. I had to meet my friends urgently", I said calmly, taking a sip of my coffee. Rowan nodded his head vehemently and shot me daggers. “And your excuse for today?”
I ignored him. “Oh it's alright, Liz. Though it would've been nice if you were there too”, smiled Eva. “Are you alright? I heard a few of my classmates talking about a fire in Summershine Academy". Eva attends Jarold High Fount School too but she's nice. Wait! All three of the girls attend the same school.
“Oh that? Never been better. Just received news that no school tomorrow. Wish it would've been a week but you know about our principal”
“Erm... No?”, Rowan quipped. I coughed and pretended to not hear his reply.
“Yeah sure. I know only too well about Eli-bolle", Lucas shrugged addressing my principal with a nickname that makes no sense at all. Lucas studies in the under-branch of Summershine Academy, which illustrates the fact that his school has opened only recently.
“Are you busy, Liz?”, Bella proposed the question quietly. I was taken aback.
“Well...Erm--", I started but there was the doorbell, giving a shrilling noise throughout the house. Again. But this time, I assumed they were the people I awaited for. “COME IN!”, I bellowed lazily.
