“Mom? What are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be... I dunno, attending the party?”, I asked, batting my eyelashes innocently. She sighed and ignored what I asked.
“So... Mind letting me know what happened at school?”
“If I tell you the truth, you'll believe me, I take it?”
She nodded patiently, waiting for me to continue.
“Okay... So the truth is that, I’m just as confused as you are. The media doesn't have a clue what they're talking about and besides, believe me, I'm too scared to actually use a gun and you know my bag's always filled with other stuff to hold guns and knives in it”, I reasoned when my dad joined her, looking aghast. He was downstairs talking to the police and for now, I’m safe.
Dad scratched his head while mom let out a deep sigh. “Well, you're expelled from school and this was decided by the government. Don't worry, though. Your principal is working on a way to have you guys back at school. You know what? I had a talk with his wife, who is your vice principal, and she chuckled telling me that school can never be school without the blackstars since even your teachers are totally against the fact that you people are expelled. It really surprises me that you have so many friends and that’s way many than I imagined", my mom smiled at me. I rolled my eyes at her with a bit of anger. She knows nothing about me and thinks of me as a shy and timid girl infront of teachers like back at my previous school. I don't think she's ever bothered to even ask me how my day was. Not that I want her to. I like to keep it to myself since I’m not so close to them as you think we might be. She left my room.
Dad poked his head out of the door to be absolutely sure that she's gone downstairs and when he was confirmed, a ginormous sigh escaped his mouth.
“I’m gonna pretend that I didn't hear what you told me in the ice-cream parlour. Like, SERIOUSLY! I’m gonna pretend you didn't TELL me what you TOLD me”, he hissed at me. I saluted him humbly. “Sir, yes, sir! You’ve got my vote in that"
“By the way, daughter dearest, by the law of police enforcements, you're not allowed to leave this house", he smirked. I snapped my eyes at him with a displeased look.
“And about Aaron. Sky's at the hospital with her family and if it makes you feel better, you can sneak off just today—WITHOUT YOUR MOM KNOWING—wearing your master disguise as a boy. Make sure you're back before 4. I don't suppose you'll have any problem fooling the guards guarding the outside of our house and get yourself a cab"
I pumped my fist in the air being ecstatically thrilled. He tossed me a $150 and left the room.
I did a somersault off the bed, squealing with happiness. Dad came back in holding a quadcopter. “Think you might need this. It's a DBPOWER RC Quadcopter Drone. You can basically reach the sky with this and click pictures and record videos from a completely different perspective. You control it with your phone, Liz. Download the app ‘MJX H’ and connect it to the Wi-Fi to ‘MJX H’ signal and don't forget to press the ‘One Key Return’ button and call it back. Figure the rest on your own. Imma sleep now. The party was a DISASTER! And I seriously don't want that taking a stroll in my brain", he shrieked and walked out. “And Liz, don't damage it. Colton will kill me!”, he shouted.
I called Sky agilely and she picked so swiftly.
“Dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude!”, we ended up saying it in unison, so I tried again.
“Dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude!”, at the same time again. “Argh! Fine, you go first"
I paused at the same time she did, hoping the other would speak and since she didnt, I started, “Sky--" at the same time she started, “Liz--"
I waited for her to say something, agitated. “Bro, guess what?! I'm under hospital room arrest", I felt her pout and I chuckled.
“I’m sneaking in today”
Silence.
“Sky?”
Silence.
“DUDE, YOUR NOT PRANKING ME, ARE YOU?”, she asked, rather excited and I shook my head later realising she couldn’t see that so it all came down to my poor mouth.
“A definite nowp", I grinned like an idiot.
“I LOVE YOU, PEPPERMINT FREAK! And you know what? By the look of it, bro and his friends might gain consciousness by midnight. Maybe, MAYBE, we can get some answers", she was hyper-excited. I laughed. Then her voice dropped, “But dude, I'm under hospital arrest and you're under house arrest. You can't get in here without getting caught ya know. CCTV cameras. No patients allowed to visit them until they say we can”
“Guess I'm gonna hafta stop by my cousin's then”, I smirked dangerously. “TC, bro”
“Erm... Just so you know, once you get caught, I’m sorry in advance for not rescuing your butt", she smirked, hanging up on me. Pft.
At 11:30, I smirked looking at my closet with pride ness overflowing. I seriously wouldn't need to go shopping for new boys clothes cuz literally all my clothes are boyish. No one would notice.
I pulled in my baggy black tee and a black leather jacket along with a black denim. I secured my earrings in a tiny box. I hate jewellery. Even earrings, but my mom forces me to wear them. Grrr. I flicked my hair into a tight bun before pulling my grey beanie over my head. I wore a pair of cute spectacles. They are actually Cronie’s. He needed them for a concert. The tactless finger gloves I was wearing, looked splendid! I thought it as a must since if anyone touches me, it would be danger. No man's hand is SOFT.
I diversed my window open with out a noise and grabbed my quadcopter. I call it mine cuz it's in my room and I make the rules in here. I balanced a tennis ball on top and went to grab my phone. I flung my backpack over my right shoulder and tied my black sport shoes. I operated the drone out my house and flew it to the other side of the house. I made it do a 360° flip near the trees so the leaves ruffles and the tennis ball rolling their direction would attract the guards attention. They chased after the noise. I led them all the way into the woods with the drone undercover.
I climbed onto my window sill and was careful when I slipped the window shut. It's unfortunate that I don't have a tree next to my room. But, oh well! I slowly slipped to the window sill below me which was Cronie's room. I actually had to CLING on to the sill because I almost lost the grip. I landed myself safely on the ground. This ain't new; sneaked out plenty of times. I pressed the ‘One Key Return’ button and waited till the drone approached me.
I shuffled it into my backpack and fanned myself to calm down. I quickly walked over to the street and pretended to be someone walking home using this particular street. And just like I'd thought, the guards returned to their post, reaching for their breath. They were mumbling something about the distraction being a wood forest animal.
I was slightly whistling and looking towards the guard in pretence confusion. I pulled my beanie a little lower nervously. You have every right to NOT believe what I did next.
I walked over to a Canadian guard. “E-e-excuse me, sir. Err... Could you get me a cab please?”, I beseeched. “You see, I left my phone back at house which is far away and I have to head to the...” Which hospital? The nearest was... “Vesper International Hospital. Urgently! My... broth—siste —I mean, mom... err... admitted... erm... got admitted yesterday. Please help me!”, my boyish tone didnt need much adjustment from my actual tone. Just had to deepen it a bit.
He looked down at me suspiciously and I could see he didn't buy the story. All the better! I’m not backing down. “What's your name, kid?”, he asked. “Sander Willows. But I go by Sed", I said in a confidential voice.
He reached for his phone and started looking up for something. “There were two ladies admitted yesterday and none by your last name. Agary Naomi and Sherry Fox”, he shot me a suspicious glare. I just frowned.
“That's because I'm adopted by Mrs. Fox. I've always thought her name was CHERRY. Lol", I chuckled as the mans eyes widened with a hint of sadness. “I’m sorry for whatever happened to your actual parents, kiddo", he gave a small smile and phoned me a cab.
That's accomplished.
“Yo, dude, drop me off near Losell Lane and wait for me there. I can't promise you that I won't be long”, I intimidated and smirked as the cab driver shuddered with fear clear in his face with the effect I needed.
