I groan, sitting up. My head hurts like hell. I probably hit it when I passed out. I see people laying all over the floor.

Some look like they're dead, but I'm fine.

I see Kai standing over Ric and Jo. Ric is crying, and Jo isn't breathing. This is bad.

"Phesmatos singuen levatosa." I say, raising Kai off the ground and holding him there.

"Elle? I've missed you so much." He whispers. I give him a confused look, but I set him down. He stands up and walks toward me.

"Gullible." He mutters as the familiar dark veins I've seen too many times before rise under his eyes.

"No. That's not possible." I whisper, backing away.

"Oh, but it is. You know those heretics I was stuck with? Well, we're- what would you say- buddies? You're not important to me anymore." He states, backing me up against the wall.

His humanity is off. That's why he's acting like this.

But why would he turn it off?

"Turn it on." I whisper, glaring at him.

"Oh, Elle, it's not that easy. I turned it off for a reason. I was way too attached to you. Now, I'm free. You were just some stupid play-thing to distract me. The distraction is over. Now you can watch all your friends die." He whispers.

I look to the side before pushing past him, trying to get away from him.

"Immobilus." He says. I'm frozen. He surprises me when he walks up to me, kissing my forehead.

"Enjoy the show."

I watch Kai walk away, moving towards everyone else, and I try to move, but I can't. I see Bonnie and Damon shuffling around in the back room.

"Bonnie!" I whisper-yell. I'm surprised that I can talk, considering the spell Kai used.

It could be the same reason why I wasn't hurt earlier: I'm more powerful than everyone else.

Bonnie looks up at me. She says a few words, and I feel the spell leave my body. I run towards her and Damon, so I don't get seen by Kai.

"He's a heretic, and his humanity is off." I whisper.

"That is just wonderful." Damon says sarcastically, rolling his eyes. I turn towards Bonnie.

"What are we going to do?" I ask.

"We need to try and get his humanity back on. But, to do that, we'd have to tie him up so someone can talk to him. And Noelle, he loves you so much. I know it. I think you're the only one who can do this." She whispers.

"If we need to tie him up, then I'll have to do a semi-powerful spell, considering we don't have anti-magic cuffs." I reply. Damon puts his hand on my shoulder.

"You got this." He smiles, and I smile back. I turn around the corner.

"Kai. Why don't you pick on someone your own size? Or, more fitting, pick on someone as powerful as you." I speak up, watching as he turns around.

"How'd you get out? Actually don't tell me, I don't care. This will be sad. You'll be dying at the ripe age of 20. That sucks." He states, laughing.

"I guess you forgot that I can break your neck with a snap of my fingers?" I ask, raising my eyebrows.

"You're too confident in yourself, Elle. Give me a break already. Motus." He whispers, flinging me against the wall.
