The next morning as well Shehnaaz was the same. She wouldn't speak and kept on staring into nothingness.
Her silence was making him scared but he couldn't do anything. He knew that she was scarred, and he wanted to be the one erasing them.
He brought orange juice for her. It was a miracle that she let him go, becsuse since yesterday, she had just been holding his hand.
Shehnaaz was too scared to leave his hand and Sidharth was too scared to let her go.
He couldn't imagine Shehnaaz being taken away from him again. If he lost her again, he didn't know what he would do.
"Baby bass juice lekar aaunga tere liye. Tu 15 tak count kar, usse pehle hi aa jaunga!", he had explained to her as if he was coaxing a child.
Shehnaaz was hesitant to leave his hand but then she did. And indeed she had counted till 13, when Sidharth entered.
She again tried smiling but she couldn't. It was as if something inside her had been broken and it had taken away the part of her which made her smile.
Sidharth brought the glas near her mouth but she tried to take it from him. Sidharth held her hand gently and kept them back on her lap.
"Dekh lagi hui hai na!", he said and again brought the orange juice near her lips.
This time she opened her mouth and sipped it, instead of trying to take the glass from him.
Sidharth patiently made her drink the juice sip by sip. The doctor came as soon as she finished the glass.
Shehnaaz got scared even from him. She again slid her hands into his hand and pulled him towards her.
She clutched her arm while looking at the doctor. Doctor Mathur smiled at her but she just couldn't return the smile.
Shehnaaz isn't like that. Even if somebody doesn't smile at her, she would always smile because she loved to do it. Smiling made her feel relaxed.
But today, she didn't even smile when the doctor himself smiled at her.
"How are you feeling Shehnaaz?", Doctor Mathur asked.
She didn't reply. She just kept on looking at him and clunging to Sidharth's arms.
Doctor knew that Shehnaaz wouldn't speak until she let's it all out and so he didn't mind.
"Can I see her stitches?", the doctor asked and Sidharth nodded.
He was about to move when Shehnaaz's grip tightened around his hand. She shut her eyes and started breathing heavily.
The doctor instantly asked Sidharth to move so that he can inject her. Sidharth stopped him.
No matter how the drugs calmed her, they were drugs after all and he didn't want her to have those inside her system.
He cupped her face and placed a kiss on her forehead. She hugged his waist and dug her face into his stomach, not wanting to let go off him.
He had never seen her scared. Actually, she had never been scared ever.
Even during that time when she felt that she was leaving Sidharth behind, she wasn't scared.
She wasn't scared when she ran away from the hospital after assuming that Sidharth didn't trust her over Misha.
She had never been so scared. Her being this vulnerable scared Sidharth. She has always been the one encouraging people and holding them when they fell.
Shehnaaz had never been the one who needed support and today she needs it. Sidharth was scared because he didn't know how to give it to her.
Had it been Shehnaaz at his place and had it been him at her place, she would definitely have known how to give him the courage he needs.
