Chapter 4- Hey Mom!

Seliel's POV
I rushed past people in the city.
"Ugh I'm such an idiot. Cole's gonna kill me!" I thought.
I was supposed to meet up with Cole and Jade a day or two ago, but missed it because I was traveling. I hate my job but I have to do it. Besides, if I knew those two at all, they would be fine. Especially after I'd tell them the good news.
I kept running as fast as I could. I had taken the subway all the way from Stiix, and was racing to get home. Cole told me to text him when I'd be coming home, but I wanted to surprise them!

Cole's POV
I knew Seliel would be home sooner or later, and knowing her, she'd try to surprise us. So I had an idea.
"You ready cupcake? We're about to leave!" I called to Jade
"Yeah yeah I'm coming." She came down the steps. "Where are we going again?"
"To see some friends! Don't worry, I'm sure you'll have a great time!"
"If you say so."
We walked out the door and Jade got in the car. I posted a piece of paper on the front door and hopped into the drivers seat.
"Let's hope Seliel sees that!" I thought to myself as we drove off.

Seliel's POV
I ran to the house, and stopped at the front porch, catching my breath.
"Maybe.... running.... all the way here.... wasn't... such..... a good idea."
I looked up at the door and saw a piece of paper. I ripped it off and read it.
"Dear Seliel,
I knew you were going to try and surprise us. So I put this on the door in case you were wondering where we went. Jade and I left to meet up with the ninja at Laughy's. Feel free to come if you want, I'm sure Jade would enjoy it! You don't have to if you don't want to, but you're welcome to come if you'd like.
Love,
Cole."
I put down the paper and looked around, making sure this wasn't a prank. I sat down and thought for a moment.

Jade's POV
We pulled up to Laughy's and got out of the car. When we went inside, I saw Kayden, Ember, Liam, Aiden, and Bianca sitting at a table talking. Their parents were sitting at the table next to them.
"Go sit with your friends, K cupcake? I'll be with the adults." My dad said to me
I just nodded and went over to the group.
"Hey everyone!" I said trying to sound excited.
"Hi!" Kayden replied. Everyone else just kinda sat there.
Bianca was reading, Ember was on her phone, and Aiden and Liam were playing Rock Paper Scissors.
I just sat down next to Ember and Bianca hoping to find something to do. Normally, the Walker twins would bring some sort of invention for us to test out.

Wow I called that.

Jasmine and Nathan walked in with their parents and ran over to us.
"Hey guys!!"
Everyone perked up and looked over.
Nathan plopped a big computer on the table.
"I've got a brand new invention that could revolutionize the world as we know it! It took me weeks to make but I'm finally done! You know, a lot of blood, sweat and tears went into this- um, just for clarification, that was theoretical- anyways, I really hope that the time I spent on this does not go to waste and-"
"And I thought I talked a lot." Jasmine interrupted her brother.
We laughed a little at that.
"So what does it do?" Bianca asked.
"W-well you see, it uh" Nathan stuttered.
"He built walkie-talkies." His sister interrupted.
"No I didn't! They're small, phone-like devices that transmit sound-like signals to each other through- oh yeah, yeah I guess they're walkie-talkies."
"I'm sure they work fine though! We may use them later on." Bianca said while smiling.
Nathan blushed a LOT at that comment.
That's when it hit me.

I ship it.

Seliel's POV
I pulled my hair back into a messy bun. I had one shot at this, I couldn't mess it up. My husband and daughter out there, and I HAD to make them happy.
"Hey you got five minutes till you're up."
"Oh okay thanks Dareth!"
I took a deep breath.
I stepped on stage as I second guessed myself with every thought.
I looked at the juke box to make sure Dareth was there.

*sigh* he was.

He put in a quarter and pressed a button as the music started. I took a deep breath and began.
"Lullaby, and good night, in the skies stars are bright
May the moon, silvery beams, bring you with dreams
Close you eyes, now and rest, may these hours be blessed
Till the sky's bright with dawn, when you wake with a yawn

I saw Jade and Cole look at me. Then the rest of the ninja. I smiled and waved but kept singing.
Then the most amazing thing happened.

JADE AND COLE STARTED SINGING ALONG WITH ME!!! 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

I felt so happy! The pride and joy of that moment came flooding into my heart as I began to smile wider.
The music slowed and eventually came to a stop and I stopped singing. I got off the stage as my family ran to hug me.

Jade's POV
I couldn't believe it. Mom was home. I felt myself tear up a bit.
"I can't cry! I'm not that weak!
But, Mom is home so why not?
Because it's weak!
So?
IM NOT WEAK!!
No, but you're happy. Happy tears and normal tears are different!" I found my heart fighting with my mind but before they could finish I found myself crying anyways. I looked up at Mom and Dad who were happy crying too.
"I missed you two.... so much!" Mom said through tears.
"That's a wind that blows both ways!" Dad replied.
We released the hug and Mom and Dad kissed.
I scrunched my nose and turned around, heading back to my friends. The girls were all going, "awwwwwwww!" But the boys looked like they would barf. I laughed a bit at the sight of that.
Time skip...
Everyone said their goodbyes and headed home. Once we arrived at the house, Mom took us into the living room and sat us on the couch.
"Okay. I have some important news. Listen closely." She said.
Oh boy. She would say the same thing every time she came to visit and had to leave.
"I'm staying home."

The room went black.
