Flames of red and yellow erupted around me, as if from hell itself. The fire scorched the furniture instantly, leaving it charred and blackened. I shielded my face as the heat grew, beating against me like a smothering blanket. My eyes burned from the smoke and heat, filling with tears that evaporated before they had a chance to fall.

Am I dying?

The fire was relentless, I felt like it had come to consume me, an all-encompassing force that blocked out every way out, trapping me within its grasp.Everywhere I looked, there were reminders of past memories, now just ashes in the wind. A loud crunch was heard when the ceiling collapsed onto itself, I stumbled forward just in time to avoid being crushed.

I'm going to die here

The shrill sound of sirens seemed to be getting louder, but I couldn't decide if they brought my salvation or my damnation - Since I am the reason everyone else in the house is dead.

I had never wanted to take life before, but I could no longer stand being subject to the horrors they had forced upon me. It felt almost wrong to be happy after what I had done, yet I couldn't deny the satisfaction of knowing I was free.

Who am I kidding? I'm going to die here, these memories will die when I die and I'm glad. The fire continued, it cornered me. I felt the flames mock me as they inched closer to me. The foreboding feeling of my death only made my heart beat faster.

I feel alive

My chest burned as my vision became hazy. The flames spun around me and I felt my legs buckle. I collapsed onto the wooden floorboards that remained untouched, the last area to be burnt away. The floorboards creaked beneath me as I shifted my weight. It sounded as if the floorboards were crying.

Beautiful red cinders fluttered out of the wall of fire that was just a couple metres away from my flesh, this was a death I didn't deserve. The flames was the last thing I saw, before everything went black and life faded away.
