Glynda POV
I approached Ozpin at the top of the cliff after having to step away for a moment. "Our last pair has been formed sir. Nora Valkyrie and Lie Ren. Poor boy I can't possibly imagine those two getting along. Still he's probably better off than Ms . Nikos." After getting a hum out of Ozpin I continued. "I don't care what his transcripts say. This Jaune fellow is not ready for this level of combat. I guess we'll find out soon enough. Also there appears to be a problem professor. Mr. Drakkon has outpaced all other students and is currently at the temple without a partner. What should we do?" Ozpin swapped camera views from Ruby and her partner Weiss Schnee to Freyer. "I have already taken measures. Let us see just how far he can go in the emerald forest."
Freyer POV
As I approached the temple I noticed many pedestals with large chess pieces placed upon them. "Really Oz. Chess pieces." I walked forward and grabbed a black queen. "The most powerful piece in the game. Now to get back to the cliff." As I said that the ground under me shook then fell in, the piece having been the switch for a trapdoor under the temple. As I fell I saw the trapdoor closing above me so I turned as I fell opening the panel on Ebb I flicked the switch to red and drew Flow. The fire dust allowed me to see the narrow yet deep hole I was in. I swung Flow into the wall having it slow me to a stop. I caught my breath for a moment before deciding to continue falling. I probably couldn't open the trapdoor anyway if I got up there and if this was part of Ozpin's plan then it was time for me to start my show.
After landing safely at the bottom I quickly took account of my surroundings. The wall that I could see had pictures on them of people struggling, trying to fend off a giant two headed worm and eventually being forced to retreat. "Oh, great. A blind worm." I sighed. "That's gonna be a problem." I walked around the room getting a feel for the surroundings before the floor shook again. "Here it comes." The worm tore through the ground under my feet attempting to swallow me from below. However I jumped just before it appeared and gave Flow a hard swing. Deflecting the trajectory of the grimm and forcing it back into the ground. It soon popped back up about ten meters away from me and roared, getting it's acidic saliva everywhere. I readied myself for the battle to come and charged the grimm as it did the same sliding across the surface of the ground I finally got a good look at how long it was, about 40 meters. Not the biggest but large enough to destroy the room should it so please. I needed to finish this before it decided to do that. I dodged to the side of its charge at the last second. Slashing at its side as much as I could before the second head of the grimm came around and chomped at me. While I was fighting I was forming a plan to get out of the hole. This grimm seemed to be my ticket out of here so I couldn't kill it yet. The first head came from behind me biting at me while the second continued to swirl around me slowly making my fighting space smaller and smaller. After just a few moments I was almost fully ensnared with no more room to swing my blade so I went to the only option I had. Up. Jumping as high as I could I managed to clear the grimm's body however it appeared to be waiting for this as the second head charged me. I raised my sword to block it as we traveled upwards back up the hole I came down. When the grimm cleared the floor it used it's bone plating as hooks to travel up the wall pushing me ever closer to the surface. Soon enough I heard panicked voices above me indicating that I was near the trapdoor that I had fallen into. "What's going on. We seriously don't need any more grimm right now." Soon enough my body was slammed against stone which I felt break under the force and the blind worm and I soared through the air finally out of the hole. "Fucking finally!" I yelled. Noticing the large array of people staring up at me from the temple. "Now I can actually kill you, you little shit." I placed Flow back into Ebb and flicked the switch to the blue setting. With a single swing the Ice dust on the blade materialized and flew at the grimm which screamed in pain. Allowing me to get on it's back and run down safely all while slashing the grimm's body open with Flow, the ice dust freezing the wounds before the acidic blood could fly out and hurt anybody. By the time I had reached the ground the grimm also slammed its first head on the ground and had already started to fade away into smoke. I stood up straight before looking at the group and saying. "By the gods that thing was annoying." As I sheathed my blade. I heard another screech above me and the clacking of deathstalker legs to my left as I looked at the group which was stunned by my show. "Look i'm not really in the mood to fight more annoyances right now, how about those of you who don't have relics grab one and we get our asses moving to that cliff." They all nodded and we started running eventually making it to another set of ruins before the Nevermore circled ahead of us perching itself on the ruins right in front of our objective. Shortly after the death stalker that was frozen in place broke through the trees, the ground beneath us started shaking again. "Son of a bitch there was another one?" I sighed before dodging the charge of yet another blind worm. "You guys deal with these annoyances, I'll take care of big fatso over here." Dragging the grimm away from the group to avoid any unnecessary problems with our fights. This particular grimm was a bit more challenging as I had no way to immobilize it entirely but I still finished it off in short order and returned to the base of the cliff just in time to see Weiss freeze the nevermore's tail and slingshot Ruby to the top of the cliff with the grimm in tow severing it's head when she reached the top.
With applause in the background the assignment of teams was almost complete."Russle Thrush, Cardin Winchester, Dove Bronzewing, Sky Lark. The four of you retrieved the black bishop pieces. From this day forward you will work together as, team Cardinal. Led by, Cardin Winchester." As team CRDL left the stage the next set of four walked up. "Jaune Arc, Lie Ren, Pyrrha Nikos, Nora Valkyrie, the four of you retrieved the white rook pieces. From this day forward you will work together as, team Juniper. Led by, Jaune Arc!" Jaune gave Ozpin an astounded face before he spoke again. "Congratulations young man. Next up. Blake Belladonna, Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Yang Xiao Long. The four of you retrieved the white knight pieces. From this day forward you will work together as, team RWBY. Led by, Ruby Rose." As Weiss gave Ozpin an astounded look then looked over to Ruby I walked onstage. "Finally we have a single exception for this year's team assignments. Freyer Drakkon you were the first to the temple and retrieved the only available black queen piece. From today forward you will work on your own supporting other teams as necessary." Murmurs were heard throughout the crowd. "For those of you who doubt his skill and ability to be as efficient as a team allow me to play the recording we have of his combat aptitude test as those of you who have been here a while will know this particular simulation is locked behind two requirements the first being you must be a third year at Beacon and the second being that you must have a teachers permission." The holo screen above him played the video while he temporarily turned off the mic. "I was very impressed by the show you put on Mr. Drakkon not many students are able to defeat a single blind worm let alone two." Sounds of awe could be heard throughout the audience as the video played. When it ended Ozpin turned the mic back on. "This video is why he was allowed into Beacon on the first ever full scholarship. This next video is why he is allowed to be on a one man team. The holo screen changed video to the camera following Freyer and showed him defeating both blind worms with relative ease. As the crowd broke out in applause Ozpin spoke again. "It looks like things are shaping up to be an interesting year.
We were shown to our dorms and most were speaking like they were going to fall asleep first thing. When we got to mine I walked in and was about to close the door when someone stopped it. I looked back and saw Yang propping the door open. "What's up Yang?" She smiled. "Nothing much just wanted to say that what you did back in the forest was really cool, and that i'm glad you managed to make it into Beacon." I smiled back at her. "Yea, me too. Anyway you should probably get some sleep. Classes start tomorrow after all." She nodded and left allowing me to finally close my door. I turned around and appraised my new dorm room. It was simple with a single bed with my suitcase containing what little I had to my name in it, window, desk and a door that led to a fully functioning bathroom. With a happy sigh of satisfaction I walked over to my suitcase. Opening it revealed the single extra set of clothes I had along with a well worn maintenance kit for Ebb and Flow. I set the clothes in the closet and the maintenance kit on the desk before setting the suitcase to the side and falling into the bed.The comfort of a real bed lulled me to sleep instantly.
